    Hello,

I would like to hear from anyone who is using the stock Husqvarna windshield. I am looking to reduce the wind hitting me in chest and this looks like the ticket.

    Thanks,

I have there bigger factory wind screen on my bike and like it very much. The wind hits just at the base of my helmet. Nice clean air on the helmet with greatly reduced pressure on my chest. I'm 5'8 with a longer torso and shorter legs. A tall guy might catch more wind on the chest and a shorter rider could be in the dirty air. I am very happy with this screen. M2C

Yes I have that Wind Screen on my bike. I'm 6ft. The screen does take all the wind off your chest. And works well at speeds over 100kpm or 60mph. Still get lots of bug splatter on your helmet visor though. Speeds over that and the bike feels a little front end light.
My one thing I don't like about it is it makes for a very noisy ride. I have a Aria Quantum-2 helmet. Good helmet does cut down on the noise quite a bit. If you stand up and get into clean air there is hardly any wind noise. But sitting is quite loud.
I where ear plugs and that has cut down on the wind noise a lot.
Better than no wind screen for long hauls.

I really prefer how the wind hits me with the husky windscreen. I'm 5'11" and I feel like the air hits my helmet cleanly. You'll definitely want earplugs at higher speeds, I don't consider those optional on any bike, but it's not bad. If you're going to be cruising a while you can tuck in a bit behind the windscreen and it's really quite pleasant.

I think factory higher windscreen is a nice piece of gear. No problem with air turbulence whatsoever. Especially useful when you back off a bit while seating.

Its nice, neat and not that high to pose as a sail...

    Thanks for all the replies.

I am not aware of two different "factory" windshields. The one in the picture is called a "high touring" windshield and is the only part number I am aware of.

    Can someone confirm this?

That's the only one. There is another, taller screen from National Cycle available, but it takes up a good bit of bar space with the quick release knobs. The DX screen is great (had it on a Moto Guzzi Griso) if you can give up the real estate on the bars, I already have barkbusters, GPS, and 12V installed so I couldn't make it work.

The factory screen looks good and fits perfectly. I am 6ft and it takes all the wind off of my chest and just the tops of my shoulders (almost just my shoulder armor) gets a little wind. Still leaves clean air for my helmet. I am about to take a 2000+ mile trip with the bike so I will report back on rider fatigue and how it does at higher speeds for a sustained amount of time.

Just put one on the other day and tried it out yesterday. I can't say that it does much for me I'm 5'6" and the wind still hits my chest and neck area but otherwise it's a nice clean mount and keeps good neat lines with the stock look. I'm not going to try any others as I'm sort of use to nakeds and such so the wind isn't a big deal only in the cooler temps. On another note I'd like to say as far as wind protection goes the touratech handguards with the add on spoilers work great at keeping the wind off your hands!

As a rider who has always owned large capacity road bikes with lots of wind protection I found the Terra without the screen quite intolerable at anything over about 80kph. Love it with the factory screen. Rode 1000km this past weekend with no issues. Helmet noise with the screen increases at about 95kph but I can sit comfortably on 100kph all day. The only issue I have with it is at night the light from the headlight hits the bottom of the clear screen and creates a bit of a neon line at the top of the screen and also at the lip near the top where it changes direction. I have solved this temporarily by sticking black tape along the bottom of the screen. I'll probably just get a bit of black paint along the base of the screen to stop this permanently.

Could someone measure the height and width at the longest points of the factory shield and post it??
I would like to experiment with one a little bigger than stock and cut it down a little at a time until it fits me.

    Thanks

Ugh...rode about 45 minutes at 90-95mph and was beat afterward! I def need to get a screen! How much $$ are the factory ones going for?

I put a LED bulb in the driving light plug in and mine glows a soft blue. It doesn't bother me...too much at night.

Hey all, has anyone tinted one of these? I've called a couple of auto window tinting companies and they won't touch it because it's polycarbonate as they reckon it will start peeling after a few days. I was going to tint the inside so it was not going to be directly exposed to grime, bugs, etc.

Doing exactly that at the moment :-)
Same width as the factory-touring screen, but 390mm high instead of 240/250mm
Currently flush-mounted like the tiny factory thing the bikes come with...but will be playing around with spacers to create different standoffs and angles.

Most likely too high, though....it's about 15.5" high and the windpressure at 60mph+ would most probably tear the 4 little bolts out of their rubber grommets (or worse, mangle that tiny aluminum brace).
It's just a starting point, though...
