Long story short, sold my husky from pa to co.

Guy sent me a check and arranged shipping. Check cleared no issues its all there. I wrote up a bill of sale mailed it to him, hes gonna sign it and mail my copy back.

Nothing can go wrong from here right? Once its clear, its clear right? Nervous as i never did this before. Was always cash and cary deals.

Yeah a cr250 a bit sad, it was awesome from the couple rides i put on it but just trying to be reasonable and not have 10 bijes lol

There is always more. Once a check clears theres no way he can go about getting the money back from my account right? My only concern really.

Sure your fine BUT double check the guys address is all legit, everything matches etc. Also check with bank the funds are in fact legit and went through. I went into bank one nday two weeks after a like transaction. Only to find out I was like negative 4000. Turned out the guy sent me a bogus cashniers check. It was a legit cashiers check when I diposted into bank but somehow drawn on a bogus account. Still pissed about it the more I think about it. It was a fricken cashiers check. Youd think it wouldnt get past the bank like that. then they dumped it all on me, My paypal accuount and all credit cards where useless after that as they where "flagged" That nwas BOA, never gonna bank with them again,

I sold my XC500 to a dude in NY. He sent me a check, I cashed it, funds cleared etc. the bike left today on a truck he arranged. I felt really good about it as did the seller. We had many conversations both on the phone and Emails. No unknowns. Just makes sure you talk a lot and have some sort of relationship. I felt he was taking the risk.

If the check cleared, sounds good .. But read my last paragraph below that is a corner case I'd think... Most of us are honest but not everyone. And the dishonest ones (or whatever they are) are gonna get-ya every now and then. We might can protect ourselves by just keeping our guard up and asking a question or two (as per firecrotch) ... Crooks may not be prepared for any questions...

That is a little spooky ... Always thought a cashiers check was the same as cash as the funds are pulled out of the account when the paper is cut ... (BOA had such huge fines (fraud) left over the collapse of 2008, it's amazing they are still in business...++ they were tied in with countrywide also ... )

Was the bank the check was drawn on from within the states? I'm just a little curious on this detail and if this might be an angle to watch for ...

-- This happened to me just last yr.

Someone deposited a check (I think it was a personal check) into my account and the monies were credited to my account for ~1 day... Then it was all pulled back by the bank the next day because the account had insufficient funds for that check amount. Not sure how that happened but it happened and if I had spent that money on day 1 when it was available, I'd have been in deep kim-she as firecrotch. I was also charged a ~$10 service fee for being a victim. :)

Postal Money Order. Then the Feds will pursue. But of course find out if the Postal M.O. is good first before shipping. That should weed out some crooks.

cleared check is not indication that it's OK. you need to wait at least 10 business days for personal check to clear. when I purchased my bike remote, I sent paypal gift to the seller.
but it takes time and few conversations to establish comfort level.

money order is the best though.

What about a personal check, go cash it, deposit the cash.
