I have a 2006 SMR510 with the 50mm Shiver forks & 5000 miles on the odometer. Has anyone else had a problem with blowing fork seals? The right side fork is fine but the left side has blown 4 seals in 5000 miles. I replace both sides each time. I have checked the forl tube for scratches & dings & found none! The last time I polished the tube just to make sure it was okay. Then installed All Balls Racing seals. The left one blew after 35 miles on the freeway! I have tried stock seals,Flanders seals & the All Balls & none last on the left side! Going nutso trying to figure out why. Sent the fork distributer tech dept an Email to see if they know of any problems but got no reply! HELP! I've gone bald from pulling my hair out over this!

Something is wrong with the fork. Bad bushings, grit in the oil, something. Needs inspected.

I can assure you that is 100% weird. I've never heard of that type of thing.

I'd let a suspension professional look at it.

Right answers above. All the people who complain about blown fork seals with the Zokes? Strange, my bikes get rode hard and Iv'e NEVER had a problem with the Zokes, and that is why I had Halls install Zokes on my bike over the stock Jap-Kayaba's

Marocchi told me to get hold of Lt Racing Suspension in Washington. The guy was a great help. He said the some of the early 50mm (2006 gold ones) Shiver forks had a problem as the bore for the slider was on the big side of specs & this caused the seals to leak!! AHA ! He also said there are 2 ways to fix it. #1 buy new fork tubes, the black ones at #400 each. #2 Or the tube can be shimmed if you know what your doing, if not send your tube to them & they will do the work. I worked as a prototype machinist & still have a lathe, etc so he explained in detail to me how to fix it. I'll have it by next weekend.
