Silver Bullet WR 250?

Thought I'd share a little of my work from this long winter. This is my 2nd bike that I did this way. I like to keep them simple and sleek.

Have to say, It doesn't like werewolves!

Polished part list:

Power valve covers, cyl head, swingarm, ignition cover, clutch cover, brake lever, triple clamps, and silencer.

Looks great! You must have had some time on your hands this winter, thats a lot of polishing. I can barely find time to wash mine...

Actually, only have a total of 10 hours in prep/polishing time.

Once done is it easy to keep clean and shiny?

I think it is.

The biggest one is the brake lever from rubbing on my boot. I take it off anyway after each race to regrease. Hit it with 1000 grit wet sandpaper/buffer. Takes 10 mins. Could do the same with clutch cover since husky uses an o-ring for a gasket. My last bike RMZ250 Zook. Before race, I would cut out a piece of clear sheet protector (for number plates) and stick a piece on the high rub areas.

It will definately get the attraction in the pits and on the starting line.

That is pretty and with the right polish it can be quite durable. Having had a number of bits polished on previous streetbikes you must use Wizards micro polish/ sealer. It is by far the best product out there and your stuff will hold up surprising well even in nasty muddy conditions. It's hard to come by so an online source is your best bet.

Also, used Cardinal Red and highlighted the husky emblems on the right power valve cover, gas cap, bottom of fork tubes and emblems on front/rear hubs. I will try and get you guys some pics this weekend all assembled. Here are a few more pics:

OT: where did you get those pre-printed backgrounds from?

Autozone! Really. I make my own since my last set made it two races and I paid over $100 for and not counting fork leg protectors.

Autozone has two Interior/Exterior Carbon Fiber Decals for auto/truck use. Dark Grey and Light Silver (like chrome).

Take your number plates off and wash them. If your stock graphics are coming off (edge lifting). Take a little lacquer thinner and clean the dirt off behind them. Be careful not to rub all the old glue off and go through graphic back side (you can actually go through the red). I then take 3m super weather strip (black) adhesive or super 777 adhesive (has to dry till tacky before relaying and has to be on both mating surfaces, recommend highly the 3m super weatherstrip adhesive) and put some on the back with my finger or brush. Re stick down your graphics and use blue painters tape to hold the graphic down (let dry for 1 hr).

Take your tape off and clean the glue off with lacquer thinner. Graphics Peeled - Fixed For Good!

Number Backgrounds:Clean your plates and let them sit till warm. Take 3/4 inch blue painters tape to outline a pattern for your number plate backgrounds. Trim corners (round) with razor/exacto knife for contour of plates. Then fill the middle in with 2" painters tape. Peel the whole masking tape template off and transfer to the Carbon Fiber sheet. I then cut around it with scissors. Once you have the carbon fiber background completed. Use lacquer thinner and wipe the number plate off real good, free from lint. Take the Carbon Fiber background and peel 1/2 of the backing off and start in middle of number plate and start laying it down. Go slow and work any bubbles and creases out (pull it back up if you have to as you go). Wallah! You have a nice background.

For the numbers: Go buy a set of numbers from your local shop and peel their backing off. Stick them to your jeans to get rid of some of the stickiness and get some lint on sticky side of them. Next, stick them on the Silver Carbon sheet and cut your numbers out with scissors. Wallah! now you have your numbers to apply. Lay them over the background to position and center. I used 3/4 in painters tape along the top of the numbers as a guide/mark for spacing.

Also, I did my fork legs because the black plastic looks terrible when they get scratched. Same thing using masking tape as a template first.

I think the whole process took me 1 1/2 hours and I did it for the 1/4th of the cost and will last just as long!

PS: The letters look like chrome! In real appearance they look very sharp!

Tips: Go slow, If you need to trim a straight line. I use a piece of masking tape as a guide. For rounded corners, use a dime, penny, nickel or quarter to follow. If you have a big gouge or deep scratch in one of your plates. The background will bubble over that area. I have to get a new number plate for my front ( any day arrival and am going with a white one). The black front one looks terrible and shows scratches.

I need to run a yellow background w/ black numbers. Gonna have to think how to pull this off cause I cant justify spending $75 on custom ones.

My RMZ that I had. Did black backgrounds and chrome numbers. Looked great with all the polishing I did to that one. I did the ign and clutch covers, skid plate, swingarm, brake lever, shift lever, silencer, kick starter and hubs.

Hate that. Called a stinky workout. Have a frozen water line by horses so I have been carrying water buckets back and forth all winter. Doesn't make since to have a frost free hydrant that freezes?

When you gonna break that 07 in? Hooppole perhaps? Was gonna run Keithsburg but my bike dissolves in the rain. By end of the race would be running through the woods making husky noises with my handlebars and seat left.
