My 610 went for it 1000km service today. The dealer asked me if i want a aftermarket pipe on ? I did not want one immediately as they are costly here in S/A--R7,500. i asked how much he wanted for it--answer R4,000 Well i said --and labour to fit--1 hour. Okay i replied i will fit it myself. Fetched the bike and saw that he had fitted the Arrow aftermarket can and it came with the lambda plug and resistor that fits where he removed the sensor. Free he said Trailered my bike home and just took it for a short ride Awesome and bloody insane if you ask me compared to my uncorked XR 650 R i used to have and as strong as a Ox. The bike still needs to be run in some more. I never realised that a small mod like that would make SUCH a difference on the bike--Not noisy at all. I am sold. The pipe.
Apparently he said that it is not required with this pipe they have made for the 610 that comes with all the goodies? Will i need to re-map ? He is carrying the warranty with the new pipe on.
My dealer put on a Leo Vince slip on muffler and then he remapped the fuel injection for the muffler and it runs good, but pops a lot. If I put on the Lambda removal kit would the bike need to be remapped?
I think mine is just fine at the moment-Runs crisp and clean-No popping and just a tad louder than the stock pipe. He did however say if i wanted some more performance i should re-map the system. But he also said it would not be necessary as all the Arrow pipes that have been put on in S/A for the 610TE have not needed to be re-mapped. Only some of the SM that race have gone that route. The only thing i needed to do was set the idling down by about 800rpm.
Why do you think the idle needs to be turned down 800?The idle is set at 1700 from the factory,it won't even run that low?
I think he meant it just needed 800 taken off the top because it runs 800 higher than stock with the PUK on.
Thank's Thats what i meant. Also did a 500km gravel run yesterday with a little tar involved. Made absolutely No difference to the fuel consumption. Reserve light came on at 220km. Did 280km before i could refuel as i was out in the stix--Luckily i had a friend with who had a large aftermarket tank on his bike.( Insurance.) Re-fueled and she used 11.5 litres--thus i still had 1 litre on hand. Not bad as i was expecting to see a drop in fuel consumption. Bike is getting looser with every ride--but i do not think the Karoo she came out with is going to last another 1000km This bike is growing on me in leaps and bounds
High Side, where in NorCal are you located? I'm in Sac. I ride up in Sierra's just about every weekend. Many times I go alone. (not smart I know) but it's either go alone or don't go at all. Hit me up if you're interested going riding sometime. I like to truck it up the hill and ride mostly trails and dirt roads. Jerry in Sac
