Sorry If This Is Redundant To Something Already Posted, I Tried Searching And Wasn't Able To Find Anything. I'm Trying To Find Out The Changes The SM610 Has Undergone Over The Years, As I'm In The Market For One. I'm Finding It Remarkably Difficult To Discover What Kind Of Changes The Bike Has Undergone Over The Years, With Each New Model Year. I'm Looking At Getting An '09 With 0 Miles From The Dealer, But Was Curious If There Were Big Changes That Have Been Made In The Newer Model And If It's Worth Paying More To Get A Newer One. Also I'm Curious If The '09's Are Known For Any particular Problems. I've Been Trying To Do As Much Research Here, On SMJ, and ThumperTalk Before Posting Up Something That's Already Covered But It's Hard To Find All The Information In One Spot. If You Could Either Point Me To Where I Can Find This Information, Or Kindly Provide It Below I Would Appreciate It. Thanks, -Skidd
06-08 were carbed & 09 and up were EFI...that is all. No problems that I have read about other than the EFI tuning, but that has pretty much been solved...Buy it!!! I still love my 06
The biggest change was the switch to EFI In the US, year model 06 to 07 was carbed and in 08 we got the EFI (I know this cause I have an EFI 08 one) Europe got their EFI earlier in 07 because someone has to be the guinea pig... Along with the transition to EFI, the almighty 610 have gained a fat bar and lost the adjustability at the bottom of the forks that for the life of me I can never remember the name of, but for not a lot of money you can buy them and put them back on the bike, BTW them forks also changed their color from gold to black Minor changes to the rear fender made it easier to ditch the whole DOT apparatus and go racing or make it look real cool like with the LED strips and the tucked in license plate... Other then that it is virtually the same bike no changes from 08 till they stopped making them and switched to the 630 although even it shares 70% with the old 610 hardware Good luck with your purchase, hope to see you around
