I'm a brand new owner of a 2008-2009 sm 610 ie, and here's the situation: Today I went out for a ride, without checking the engine oil level.
I drove aprox 30km with a few pauses, during them the engine had time to cool some.
Suddenly, as I was riding it, the engine died on me. At least that's what I think.
Then I started to crank it up, but I heard only a click, without the starter engaging. I repeated this move 3 times, still nothing.
Then the power went out, the instrument cluster had no activity, it showed me only a blue surface.
When I put it on contact, I didn't hear that "preparing" noise what you hear before the engine cranks up.
The I realised that engine oil is leaking from the right sided engine cover gasket (as you sit on the bike).
I pushed it home, I bleeded the engine oil, and I collected a quantity of only 0.3l, plus what I lost on the road while pushing it home.
As i saw it, the oil didn't look burned, it had the usual colour of red-orange-brown.
I noticed that the engine wasn't hot or overheated, the coolant wasn't hot, but warm, the radiator as well.
I paniced, so I filled it up with oil, but there was no change, it still didn't start.
Tomorrow I will try to crank the engine manually with a wrench by the flywheel, after I open up the side cover, only tu rule out the possibility of engine scuffing/jam.

    1. Is there a sensor/switch which turns off the engine if the oil pressure/oil level is too low in order to prevent further damage?
    2. Did I scuff/jam my engine?
    3. How much oil does it require without filter change?
    4. If it's not scuffed/jammed, then why do I have leaks in he cover gasket and why do I get a blue display when I want to start it up?

Help wanted! Any sugestions? Pls tell me it's not s cuffle !!

From you're description I would ay that it's more likely a charging system issue and that you ended up with a low battery. Check you're voltage at the bat when it's not running and if it needs it charge it up, then after you get it started check the bat voltage again it should be about 13.7V when running at a fast idle.

Oil is on the ground, right side would be the clutch cover. Sounds like a dead battery or charging system.
Fix the oil leak and battery/charging system.

The battery is ok,i guess. It stareted the engine normaly.

I'm stil not sure of the oil problem. All of my friends say that the engine has cuffled.
The repair manul say that it takes 2 L of oil. I'we only colected 0,3+the lose on the way home.
Is there oil in the frame to?

The engine is finished. In neutral i cant move the flywheel. Probably i will sell it by pices.
