    Good day fellow 610/630 owners.

I recently bought a 2007 SM610 with 3000kms on it, for use as my daily ride to work.

Within the first week the small pipe at the top of the left radiator developed a leak, which turned out to be the factory clamp which I replaced with a new stainless hose-clamp. When I fixed the clamp I decided to drain and replace the coolant (I used 50/50 de-minieralised water /glycol green coolant).
What I found was that the reservoir pipe was blocked with silicon sealant at the bottom of the bottle (looks like silicon was used to seal the pipe on the bottom of the reservoir, and got into the pipe) which I unblocked.

Now that I had no leaks I found that the reservoir would fill up and spray out the cap when the bike was ridden hard when hot. I then turned my attention to the radiator cap which appeared to be faulty.

I replaced the 1.1 Bar radiator cap with a 1.4 Bar cap that a local bike shop had (Whats is it meant to be standard?)

The reservoir doesn't seem to be overflowing anymore, but it does fill up about 2 Inches from the minimum line when hot. When I turn the bike off it takes about 5 minutes and the coolant then flows back down to the minimum line. For about a minute after the bike is turned off I can hear like a liquid movement sound from the engine. Is this normal operation?

Thanks for reading, any feedback from the Husky community would be great.

This evening I had coolant spraying out the resevoir overflow again. When I turned the bike off it sounded like water boiling in the water-pump housing

So what I'm thinking is the following:

Blown Head Gasket? (No water in the oil or discoloration in the coolant though)

Wrong Radiator Cap? (I'm still not sure what the default is)

    Air in the system somehow?

    Faulty Water Pump?

    Blocked Pipes?

Does anyone have a systematic approach to my issue, please?

I believe I have found the source of all my troubles.

    Water Pump Impeller......

Looks like the nut that holds the impeller onto the shaft came loose, causing play on the impeller which eventually sheared its key. Luckyly the impeller is aluminium and the shaft apears to be undamaged.

Here is the shaft, look at the scoring on the head from the loose impeller:

Here is the back and front of the impeller, you can see how it has sheared:

New impeller $77, new water pump gasket $12. Will have to wait 3 days for it to come from one of the eastern states.

Hopefully this will cure my issue.

I am happy to report that this was in-fact my trouble and the SM is alive once more, with no coolant spraying all over the place

Here is a picture of the new impeller, you can see the key all shiny and new

I applied some loc-tite, but I also had to replace the nut as it was stripped

I had to replace the water-pump gasket as it was very brittle, and I took advantage of the downtime to change the the oil, clean the bag filters, change the oil-filter and check the tightness of the main crank nut.
