I need some opinions. My 2007 SMR 510 has 27,000 KM on the clock. The previous owner did the timing chain, cylinder and piston at 10,000 km and I replaced the piston at 17,000 km. The manual suggests connecting rod, bearings, and valves. I really don't want to do headwork unless I have to, and the valves haven't moved at all in 10,000 km since I adjusted them when I put the piston in it. I haven't found any metal shavings or anything out of the ordinary in the oil and I change it every 1000 km, or more often if I get the engine wet.

Do you guys think I should change the con-rod and big end bears for peace of mind and longevity or am I wasting my money?

I checked the side to side play on the rod and it's at the limit. That solves that question. Thanks guys.

The Italian big blocks were one of the greatest engines ever installed in the huskys. These engines can and will go for a long time before needing any major engine work. I would say send it
