  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

smr511 high idle for a few seconds

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi, just got a 511 and loving it.

The only thing that is annoying me is the high idle when coming down the gears, I read somewhere that its meant to do a similar job to a slipper clutch and reduce engine braking, but its a pain! especially on the street where I just want to mess about and have a laugh, it makes it a lot harder to 'back it in'

Is there any way to get rid of this?

I noticed the same thing. Almost like the engine revs up automatically until you slow down...

There is a gold screw on the left side of the bike its called the air bypass i think. If you turn it clockwise it will stop that problem. I think the standard setting to put it back is 2 1/4 turns. Mines on about 4 turns in and feels way better

I will look into that and post if the high idle has been corrected. One thing is for sure, the stock tires are dangerouse if you ride hard. I was comming down a steep rough hill and the bike continued to speed up while braking, using engine and rear brakes did not help much, off road the MAXXIS INTERMEDIATE TIREwill make this bike great off road.

if you went 2 1/4 clockwise that will keep the high rev. mine was on 4 to get the idle down and for the rev to not keep pushing the bike when off the throttle

I experienced this when I got my first got my SMR511, would suggest you get it checked out at the dealer as this went away on mine after the first service.
Not sure what Huskysport did but think it might have something to do with the FI having a double flaps which can go out of sync and also the tickover getting higher as the engine loosens up.

Mines going back to Huskysport in the New Year as the twist grip does not return back when you let go of it (dodgy spring???) and you have to twist it back yourself.
Somewhat disconcerting when you are coming to a junction fast and it carries on revving!!!

Rhys251, I'm a bit confused. On your first post you say going clockwise, or turning the screw in will stop the high idle. Your second post is saying if I went clockwise, it will keep the high rev.

Is your setting 4 turns OUT (counterclockwise)?

Wow little increments are huge. Set mine at 2 3/4 out, great engine braking now. Can easily break the rear tire free entering a turn...with supermoto wheels of course. Thanks for the info!

I sure appreciate the forum; we can save a lot of time and hassle by sharing our experiences and know how. Thank you all.
