Looking to bore up my 125 sms 2t, but to find a 165 kit is very hard for this particular bike, already swapped carb out with pwk kehein 38 and arrow exhaust pipe n silencer. bike rips but looking for some more power and mods…. any one try any of the bore up kits and suggestions for more power?… thanks

The sms/wre cylinder is detuned ~3mm from the WR/CR(all ports lower/retarded). The cylinder bores for the 165 kit just fine and will give you expected gains. You might want to upgrade cylinders if you are going to go to all the expense. I can certainly work with your cylinder to get most all of the detune corrected. Takes a bit of extra machining to cylinder top and spacer for the base.

    costs are very reasonable.

the look on other (bigger motor) riders faces when you simply pull out in front of them is priceless.

husky 165 tuned up will win it from a stock geared drz 400 at a dead start for the first 50 meters, some twistiest in the traffic and you will loose him as you win it on agility also you keep a higher corner speed due to lighter weight and the 165 power band is a smooth one if a hit is required it is created by the throtle movement speed of your hand or fanning of the clutch:banana:

now how would you price that

Thanks Robert, sounds like you got it done and are having a blast on it… its already a blast to ride and bored up to 165 make it exciting again. what are some of the differences in gains on bottom and top? does it help with that mid bogging out its prone to? thanks.

I solved my mid-bog with a lectron before getting the 165.

But as far as differences go, you get ALOT more bottom end, and more power across the board. Won't have as much of a "hit" as the 125, but it is a very impressive motor.

Sounds like a good idea to ditch the de-tuned cyl porting on the sms. But, I'm sure husky chose it for a reason. I think you'd want to keep the de-tuned jug for longevity/reliability's sake? I'm sure Walt can shed some more light on that though.

I believe the SM and WRE had to meet a maximum HP figure in Europe? That was accomplished with the retarded port timing, smaller carb, and restricted exhaust. I am by no means an expert on those models but wish they had imported the SM to the US. I would have one.

yes, WRE SM are allowed to produce 15hp with a 28mm carb... We ve got a driving license over here for 16years old so these bike are been developed for that.
They differ in various things: steel subframe with passanger footpegs, lower seat high- therefore different suspension (non adjustable), balancer shaft (you can see in the wr/cr engine where it should be fitted), mechanical pump for 2 stroke oil instead of power valve govenor.Power valve is servo operated...

Yea I sure like the top end snap on my 125. sound of my bike is my favourite i have heard yet, way louder then my wr 250, The arrow pipe and silencer is nuts. I was running a pwk 35 before and it seemed more torquey before i installed the 38mm. I beat the ninja 250 for at least a half mile, then lose them in traffic here in bali. wouldn't trade my 125 for another road bike, 2 stroke supermoto addiction...

    He he

It seems that the driving conditions and style to cope with these conditions are about the same everywhere in Asia.

I adopt the pretty much the same style to get somewhere in traffic.

Would not do that in Europe as it would be a big confrontation with others (road rage).

As far as my jets go I had the husky mechanic tune it, good question though. Yea in america people get angry easily and cops you can't pay off. I love asia for that. No paranoia on roads, ran many of police check points. Rarely road rage seen here.
