Well, even if I'm not in it (I was riding something green....again), it does have a Husqvarna in it. DirtDiva descends some fine singletrack followed by one of her sons out at McCain Valley. Somewhere up the hill, her husband is riding sweep. And as we snaked our way around the tight trails, I came across a snake.
It was a gopher snake. I like finding them much more that I like finding the usual speckled rattlers or western diamondbacks!
we saw a really nice rattler on our fri ride, he was in the same location as he was last year, when we saw him (if he/she is the same one) this one guy lives under this rocky out crop on the northern trail loop. That was first one of this season for us. If we saw (with my girls) that gopher snake that you guys saw we would have caught him, played with him then sent him on his way, my kids/young adults..... love those things!! We once chased down a racer in the second campsite, that was a challenge (they are called racers for a reason), and the kids were really into it (it stunk like death!), and we have a few gopher snake fotos as well. from 2008 in this case.
That's awesome! Sometimes I miss the dez. Like when its been raining for 8 months straight here! Dont miss the snakes though. I remember one time riding in Randsburg and crashing in the dry river bed running from town. I didn't think too much of it until another rider asked if I saw the mojave green rattler den I almost crashed into. After watching Venom 911 on TV and seeing what those bad boys' venom does, I was not having fun the rest of the day. I dont know if he was being honest or just trying to spook me, but I was spooked regardless! I do love catching a good garter snake though.
I just HAVE to ride! Maybe not so much as I used to....and I'm afraid that there won't be any 4th Annual Troy Meadows Experience for me this year. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.
Aww, man...we had so much fun last year! Oh, I have an idea! Get yourself a "Dirtdame" sized suitcase have Robertaccio bring you up here so you can ride Stonyford with us
