Ok so my brother took my 14 wr300 for a spin and dropped it. And in doing so broke the top mounting bracket for the headlight and snapped the dash mount points. Obviously pretty annoyed about it but at least he'll replace the parts.

I know OEM will be pricey and take a while so I'm open to aftermarket. I've been looking for aftermarket headlight assemblies and they seem reasonably priced, is there anything anyone can recommend?

As for the dash a trailtech unit with integrated GPS mapping would be very handy. So long as it will bolt into the factory location and is easy enough to wire up.

Any thoughts? (aside from not letting my brother ride my bike. He has history of crashing and breaking my bikes!).

    Thanks,
    Tim.

    Thanks Jersey,
I've been looking at the trailtech units, the Vapor looks pretty decent. Any how it fits up? Their website lists one specifically for the WR so I was hoping to use the OEM mounts?

With the Polisport head light - which one do you use? I've been looking at the HMX LED, but I'm a bit worried about the output, and whether or not it has a HI/LO function.

I have a Trailtech Endurance II and it has the same bolt spacing as the factory dash, so I was able to bolt it right on.

Note that all dashes need vibration isolation, so if you change the mount make sure to use some rubber isolators like the stock one uses.

I have a factory computer, dash, whatever you call it from my 2011 that has never been installed. Are you in the USA? I'll let it go cheap. Don't be too hard on your brother, the OEM headlight is flimsy. My mount broke also and is attached with hardware store L bracket. It also has some safety wire stitches.

Thanks mate, but I'm in Australia - I can pickup the Trailtech locally. You're right about the headlight mount - the top plastic arm is what's snapped and it looked pretty weak.

Bingo - that's exactly what I was hoping to find out! The actual bracket the dash bolts onto appears fine (need to take it apart to check), it's the little plastic "legs" off the factory dash which broke.
I've been looking at the Endurance, as well as the Vapor. I'd like the Vapor for the few additional functions, but need to know if it has the same spacing also. I'd be surprised if they are different though.
And if there is enough room for it to actually fit. The extra "arm" coming off the side of the factory mount may foul it?
    (http://gallery.trailtech.net/media/instructions/computers/vapor/vapor_instructions.pdf page 10).

I'm also hoping it was able to connect into the factory wiring and speed pickup cables?

Regarding headlights - has anyone had any success using some aftermarket headlights to replace the OEM?

No problem. That plastic arm is what I replaced with an L bracket. It's pretty stout, now.

My local dealer is quoting me a replacement OEM one tomorrow - hopefully that won't be too much and I'll get that and repair the broken one for a spare.
I've seen some prices online which looks pretty good (~$40) so if it's not too much more I'll be happy.

Even though I barely (almost never) ride it on the road, I like having the option of being able to just bolt on the indicators and number plate and away I go.

timmy im in Qld got a brand new oem speedo from my 13 wr125 you can have for a carton of beer if you want it mate? if you decide to go the endurance 2 then yes the oem pick up wire(speedo cable) plugs straight in to it. mount holes are perfect for stock mount. as far as wiring goes all you need to do is find the spare yellow(power) wire under the tank which comes out of reg/rec & attach the red wire from unit to it(spade type connection) & earth the black wire(terminated mine in coil mount bracket). game, set, match. headlight is just a case of swapping oem plug over onto new headlight. ive got racetech headlights on mine. if you want the oem speedo give me a yell

Shame I didn't see this earlier - I just hit the go button an Endurance 2! Although good to hear it's pretty much a straight swap. Where does the factory unit get it's power from?

Also managed to get an OEM headlight cowl through the dealer I got the bike from a pretty reasonable price (~$70) - I just like the idea of having the indicator mounts for on the odd chance it does see some road duties.
I'll still fix up the old one for a spare just in case!

Very interested in seeing how the Racetech headlights look - would you mind posting up a photo if you have one around?

One thing I found damaged which I didn't notice before is a slight tear in the seat - so I'd rather fix this now and have it end up getting bigger! There's a shop local to me which will retrim, as well as cut down and reshape the seat.
I'm getting about an inch taken out of the front half/middle of the seat and turning it a step seat as well which should help me stay on the bike when getting on the throttle out of the turns.

factory unit has multi pin plug that connects into wiring harness(power comes from same place just different wiring/more complicated with high beam, blinkers etc). I got my racetech headlights from ballards so check their website/catalogue. got the white V-Face headlight($95) for my 300(same as what comes stock on the Fantics & older-pre 2012 I think-TMs) & black Matrix($70) for the 165. ill post a pic when I get home from work in a week if I remember
