This race was put on last minute by a friend of mine who got the contract to run this ORV park. They just got the contract done two weeks before so there was not much time to promote the event and turnout was a bit low. The weather was perfect the day before and then it rained all night... Steve designed and built the course, he also went to Erzberg last year so he wanted it to be difficult. The extra help from mother nature topped off an already tough course. It really reminded me of some gnarly sloppy trail rides I have been on...

Steve went above and beyond making the course difficult, trails, MX and enduro X. I loved all of it but the downhills were a bit exciting for the lap and a half with no front brakes. I center punched a root ball and folded my rotor over pretty good early in the first lap. If I pumped enough I got some brakes but not enough to be useful for much more than locking up the front wheel every time it went around. Once I got that fixed good enough the rest of the race went well. I finished the expert race 2nd behind a fast local AA rider, 6 riders started the race and 4 finished. Both riders that quit were on 450's, the top 3 finishers were on 2 strokes.

The 125 takes on the logs...

My friend Josh in the rocks, the only 4 stroke to finish.

Here is the first lap helmet cam video... I forgot to turn on the camera and missed the video of the start so I turned on the camera just as we hit the woods.

    Nice moves everyone :applause:

I had a blast all weekend long. That place is absolutely awesome and ran by some the best people around.
It's gonna be a great summer of riding up there. Tracks, trails, camping and an 80k acre forest next door. Too much good stuff.

Jake was killing it on the 125. And good grief does that bike sound good screaming out of corners.
Shane rode awesome as well. Hope the other guys were happy with their results as well

    Good job everyone

The highlight of my race was the start. I despise dead engine starts (you would too with a WR300), but I actually had a good one this time and got out front.
The flagger gave no warning, so by the time I clicked my camera on the race was on.
Here's the start of the sportsman class race: http://contour.com/stories/straddleline-2011-start

I have 2 huge files of footage, but I need to break them down before I can host them. Maybe one day I'll get around to doing that....
