Middle son made is home from Fort Leonardwood Mo. after graduating from Engineer Officer Basic Course ! ! ! !
    wooo hoooo!
So he scored the Dirt Rider mag test bike a 2012 WR125 and brought it home.

so as a graduation present...my wife and I set him up with a few farkles for his graduation in serving our nation and his upcoming Birthday

Kelly set me up with a Lectron carb ! Thanx kelly!
    Got an FMF pipe
Race silencer and Turbine core for it
sent the pipe to Flatlands racing and they make a guard for the pipe, how AWESOME are those guys at Flatland Racing...run their stuff on all my bikes.
and we got him a set of Cycra hand guards as well......

we have new springs front and rear from LT Racing (thanx Les ! ! !)
new Michelin S12 for the rear..

so he gets back and we did the HR standard = TAKE HER TO THE FRAME

touch everything, see everything, grease everything, fix it, safety wire it, torque it - do it right the first time.

pressure wash prior to taking her to the frame.

There's some awesome single track just south of Ft Leonardwood, too bad he didn't have that to play on the weekends while he was there.

Well when I did pick up the bike in St. Louis I we t back to my hotel then later that week I was out in the field for a good 5 days. The following Monday I was able to get a battle buddy and go to flat and nasty for it test spin. I kept asking around post at all of the riding shops and they said they didn't know of any other places. Then I called the sheriffs to see if there were any areas where it was legal around there and he said there wasn't. I wish there were closer places but flat and nasty gave her a bit of a run. Ran two tanks of gas through her BBQ with other LTs while I was there. I converted two so they should be looking for a husky now.

South of the fort there are some legal forest service roads that are intertwined with outlaw single track. I know guys that have ridden in that area on and off for 30 years and have yet to see law enforcement. I think the federal forest service guys ride quads or drive pick up trucks and are mostly interested in catching people who litter. I'm new to the area so I've been going with guys who know which trails are legal.

thursday - more track time, silly grin time and layout the clubs NEW vintage MX track at the facility.

    • Flushed both brakes and replaced with new 5.1 fluid
    • All bearings greased and inspected
    • LT Racing supplied proper springs
    • New S12 rear
    • FMF pipe and Shorty Race Silencer (has the turbine core for single track)
    • He snagged my stock Husaberg FE550 bars
    • Cycra Handguards
    • Lectron Carb
    • HR Peg mods (cut the spacers off the pegs and put the spacers on the top of the peg, swap the springs (left to right) this drops the pegs down in the mounts and moves them to the rear like FastWay F3 pegs)

The little WR144 is STUPID FUN!...

He caught on quick to the 125 routine of momentum, revs, and shifting and was really hauling the mail at the end of Thursday before we had to pack up and call it an AWESOME two days !

The things we did to the wr made an amazing difference in the motor. The motor really woke up with the pipe and it was amazingly quiet. I guess it helps to have packing. The most noticeable mod though was the suspension and pegs. The stiffer springs really helped with the kick stand that I thought really sucked actually work. The fact I wasn't blowing through all the travel on the rear now is also very helpful. The foot peg mod is a must for any wr owner. By lowering the footprint you really increase the control you have with your legs and makes the transitions from standing to sitting much easier on our body. Plus it's free, you really can't beat that. Overall the revisions we made we spot on. The only other things that need to get purchase and put on is a new lower radiator shroud and radiator guards. After that bike is perfect.
