I called zip-ty racing yesterday and in a few weeks I will be the proud owner of 2009 TC 450. For $3,000 it seems like too good of a deal to pass up even considering that I think a TXC might be a better fit for the kind of riding I do.

That being said I am coming off of a '99 YZ 400F which has a fairly explosive power delivery that I kind of like. That is one reason I am a little hesitant to go with a TE series.

I will wait to see how the jetting is when it is available to pick up before I order any other stuff for it. My future plans are to possibly put a dual sport kit on it from Baja Designs (open to other suggestions) and just ride it as much as possible this summer. I may even try my first desert race. Does anybody have any suggestions to do to the bike other than the usual setting up the sag and preload for my weight?

The TC is like a lightweight YZ400f with better suspension.

Power is similar...that original YZ400f was a fast bike....still is!

    You'll be happy

That was why I am hesitant to go with the TE series. I think it may be a little bit tame compared to what I am used to.

Any comments or ideas on the Baja Designs kits or other kits?

My suggestion would be to wait till you get the bike before ordering anything for it. Those guys tend to modify things a bit. :)

It could have all sorts of changes to it.

I'm no expert on lights, but if you want to ride the desert at night you may want to at least look at the trail tech lights motosportz selling - trail tech might be able to increase the stator output if needed... Not sure how much the stator will put out, it was intended for mx use and could have been modified.

If you are going to do a lot of ST stuff then perhaps a Steahly might give you a smoother hook up (assuming they make one). These weights work wonders on YZ 250 and 450's when they become bush bikes.

I am just wanting to get it street legal I think, then I can ride the 2-3 miles from my house to the mountains to do a little riding. I just want to meet the minimum requirements so I don't want to add a lot of weight.
