Andrew Short (BTO Sports/KTM) nearly took a moto one win after James Stewart crashed out of the lead. Shorty was flying at Southwick. ( Stew is still a big part of the action :) )

The only thing stopping RV is that he still has to come from back of the pack too many times.
Riding a Husky next year might get him more consistent starts at the front :oldman:

You can almost hear stew saying "I'm too old for this" after he laid his head back after that crash ...

IMHO....Bubba needs to retire. I think all these fierce crashes have him balance damaged, no joke, punch drunk. I'm talking real continuous concussive brain damage, no joking around. He should get analized for real.
He has never had good racecraft and depended on pure adrenaline and over the edge out side the envelope speed, which only plays for so long. I have always thought there were at least a few of the top tier guys that could match speed with the "fastest MXer in world" but they too would fall victim to higher crash percentage, RACECRAFT, I dont want to see Stewart physically permenantly injured (I all ready think he has some repetitive concussive brain injury. Hey I'm nowhere near being a Dr. just an observer.

The minute 3 crash the guy is completly head hammered I remember that one and him getting back on the bike was completly wrong in my opinion, he even fell back on arse from being off balance/seeing stars from the crash.

He said it hurt really bad and knocked the wind clean out of him, that's why he layed back, to "open up and let the air come back". Couldn't find the vid where he said it.....

I think I agree with you R it is pretty painfull to watch it happen to such a talented guy. I DO think he had the racecraft (was still on edge but better) up until the 2008 season, but when he went all Bubba's World and supercross only, he lost that "racecraft" he needed to keep that blistering pace without wearing his bike for a hat every moto. It hurts to watch, I watched him DOMINATE the supermini field in 2001 from the fences of Loretta Lynn's and said he would destroy everyone as a pro. He only kinda backed up my claim.

6D helmets is sponsoring the wrong riders if they want to gain interest for crash protection :)

I still don't watch the 250 class enough to make an ~educated guess but KR94 has looked very well in the MXdN races the last couple yrs against RD5 and RV2 ...
Roczen has won half of all 250 Class motos so far in 2013

Stew is the crash master ... He has been walking \ riding away from crashes long before this latest one and that 2011 video ...Lots of these crashes were pretty gnarly back in the 250cc days ... There is one where the RAD hose comes off as the bike tumbles down the track spewing steam ...

Retire? Not sure ... Why does CR22 ride the outdoors now? He was never an outdoor rider really and now a top 10 finish is almost out of his reach it appears ... Is sponsorship money this great to keep these guys out there?

I've been to many DOCs Rob earlier in life and you are probably as qualified as some to advise people :0)

I think the difference between 22 and 7 is that one has dialed back his pace and seems to be staying on the bike most of the time....#7 did seem to be taking more of that approach (finish 3rd, but finish) at earlier races this year. But another gnarly crash makes me think that hes better off moving on to something else. There just seems to be a dangerous mismatch between what his throttle hand can summon and what the rest of the JS package can deliver for a full moto.

This is one gnarled-out track ... Looks unique as it is so wide with some odd looking lines out there ...

If you watch both motos, you'll see both RV2 and RD5 make their bikes twist and bend plus do some weird-looking bouncing from side to side ...You don't see these caliber bikes act like this on most tracks ...

John Dowd got a little air time in the second moto I think ... He was racing guys out there that were probably in diapers when he started racing ... Quite an accomplishment to ride at that high a level for so long ...

so bummed this was the last National at the 'Wick :( that place is super fun to ride, definitely unique, crazy demanding and legendary. the sand is an equalizer for sure. whoever takes it over after Ralph and Diane, i hope they can find a way to get it back on the schedule. (pipe dream, i'm sure)

at this point, i'm just hoping local racing continues. it would be a sad, sad day if that place closed up for good.

Close the best unique AMA Nat sand track, another reason why now 222, Herlings and the hoard of MXGP guys will smoke our best MXers on Dutch (and other EU) sand tracks. (PS foreigners for the most part are and have been winning AMA Nats and SX anyway
