this morning I have put new tyres. Karoo when i dismantled the sahara, i discovered something strange The rim strip was hard, deformed, yellowish and broken Has anyone had the same problem?
Is that the spoke nipple cover that is inside the wheel/tire area? If so, when that happens I usually just take good quality electrical tape and cover the nipples with 5 or 6 layers of it (making sure the surface of the wheel is totally clean).
I used duct tape on my 84 harley rear wheel back in 1990 or 91. It was still like new about two years ago when I replaced it.
Yes. I installed new ones then ran a strip of gorilla tape (strong duct tape) over the diameter and haven't had any problems yet.
Looks like a Metzeler Karoo T http://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tubes/motorcycle-tires/metzeler-karoo-t-motorcycle-tire
Yeah, that rim strip was a topic of discussion early on. They are known to fail. I replaced both of mine at the first tire change.
I ran a set of the Karoo T (Also known as the Karoo 2 T(raveller) I think. I believe they're out of production now, or if not then maybe the Australian importer only imports the Karoo 3 now. I would be surprised if Metzeler were still producing both.
The rim strip was hard, deformed, yellowish and broken Has anyone had the same problem? Ya Pauli53, I had the same problem with the rim strips. During my ride into Baja Mexico the rear tire rim strip completely broke down resulting in a flat because the spoke nipples wore two holes in the tube. I posted some pictures here. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/my-baja-mexico-ride-to-cabo-san-lucas.46541/
Hello, I want to make a mix most gravell trip and i was looking for a tyre choice. I just saw that you choose a Karro 2!!! Where did you find it. the production is stopped. I forgot that i have a brand new Karoo 2 2009 model. I bought this tyre for my old BMW 1100 gs and i never use it. i storage it in completly dark. The tyre is 150/80/17. Do you think that i can put it in my rear rim because now the original tyre is 140/17 ( european model) I am in Greece and the bike is only with 2000 klm. I believe that this type is better than Karoo 3 for gravel use. Thanks
