About a month ago I picked up a FJ1200 with 4700 miles on it and in minty condition for $850 people are giving things away these days. It has sat in the corner of a shop for years so would not start. I slapped a Dynojet Stage 3 jetting kit in it and it runs PERFECT. Fun bike. Added a $48 GPS from eBay and and double bubble windshield off a GSXR on it and i am in heaven. Been riding it in the evenings after work as the weather has been VERY nice for October here. Stage 3 jetting and pod filters (pipe coming)... windshield and GPS Shes a keeper. BMW K100 for sale... Beacon Rock in the Columbia Gorge...
classic hi-perf couch. yer gonna enjoy the beans outta that thing. try not to get as many tickets as i do....
yep bikes get purchased, parked for years, and resold for a low price down the road somewhere... What yr is that and are those SS air filters? After riding a crotch rocket, those bars in the air look very comfortable ...
it is an 86. had a superhawk that I loved but was terribly uncomfortable after about 90 miles. Bought a BMW K100 to replace it and was very comfortable but not very exciting. this bike is both fast and fun AND comfortable so it is about perfect for my needs. No street racer so don't need all the new tech cutting edge stuff. This is a nice comfortable mount. did a few 200-300 days on it already and was very comfortable.
Bikes from a decade or two ago were all about a big padded seats ... After riding the TXC on the roads so much, I can really appreciate that idea .... That bike looks like it might be ridable in towns also ...
Great steal Kelly. Not sure what goes on down in the States but up here it works out to about a $buck$ a cc for road bikes just to get you legal, no fire or thief or third party liability . My main ride since I bought her new was a 1982 GS1100SZ Katana. I believe insurance back then was under $500 for everything for the year. Imagine to put a 1200cc machine on the road wasn't cheap.
No insurance required for motorcycles in the great state of Washington. That was part of the helmet law deal back in the day IIRC. Later,
You mean it cost nothing to put a M/C on the road? What do you pay for a plate then? It's gotta cost something.
Nice bike Kelly, to tell the truth I never really thought the BMW "K" bike was you. The thing I'd like to know is how you find all these deals, looking at the same Craigs list that I do every day?
i love my ticket magnet too... stopped riding canyons though. all the squids out here in lala land kept turfing it and now the CHP is all over up there. so....she sits. for sale soon. too bad cuz i loved this bike and hitting the dozens of tight canyons we have out here. oh well... yer gonna get around at least 75000 miles of pure smiles outta the FJ kel.
I really like the K100 but it is not exciting. It's an odd thing. Great bike but boring to ride. Found it on CL, in Spokane listed for $1000 not running no pic. Emailed him for a pic and he was horrible at PC stuff. Finally sent me a bad pic in huge resolution but blurry but i could tell it was a jem, all original and unmolested. As i knew these went for $3500 all day long i jumped (had been searching for this exact bike for months). When i got there he was upset with himself as he got trapped at work and could not show me. He had called his wife to go show me the bike and told her i could have it for $850 because he was not there and was sorry. Looked it over, would not start but i could tell needed very little. Tossed it in the truck and the rest is history. This and my $300 94 WXC250 are my two best steals ever. Well i did just get a Saab 9-5 turbo V6 LOADED for $1700 but it needed a $600 head gasket that my friend did for me. Now i have a sweet 6K Saab for $2500. Buys are out there, i am upgrading my rides for pretty much free. $850 (asking $1000) not running and burried in the corner of a shop. $1700 Saab, Asking $2600 on CL. Had bought with slight front end damage for his wife, blew the head gasket and sat in his driveway. No one wanted an un-drivable Saab turbo V6 with a blown head gasket so I low balled him at $1500 and he took $1700. It is a sweet car. Fast and fun to drive and LOADED with heated and air conditioned seats and stupid stuff like that. $300 (asking $600 on CL) 94 WXC250, seized and bought from a dude that knew nothing about bikes and was selling it for some money owed him. Theres some great deals out there if you are willing to do a little work. Lots of people lost thier jobs and just need their stuff to go down the road.
sell the saab and take the money and get some new plastic for the 2-fiddy cuz the 80's called and they want their neon-lime-yogurt colored shrouds back. yer like the king of smokin' deals man. wow!
