I am considering opening up my Steering Head bearings for inspection and want a replacement set on hand in case.

I have found differing information on sizes of these bearings.

Example, this post states two 29x48x17.5mm Tapered Roller bearings:

    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/creaking-forks.80904/#post-554777

The info in this post is quite different as it states the Bearings to be RBT1B 329013 A/Q
which are the same as in the Nuda and are 29x50.3x10.72mm

    http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...uestions-thread.850525/page-267#post-25460059

There is no further information in the Interchange Lists.
So, the question is, which ones do I need?

There is confusion re the SHB at Advrider and CH, in the parts interchange it is claimed to be 29x48 and a special bearing size which is incorrect

An SKF RBT1B 329013 A/Q is a standard bearing size and the Q indicates it is part of international series for interchangeability

    simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p152838/SKF-BT1B329013AQ-Special-Fibre-Cage-Taper-Roller-Bearing-29x50.3x10.72mm/product_info.html

    Inner Diameter d ( mm ) 29
    Outer Diameter D ( mm ) 50.29
    Thickness B ( mm ) 10.72

What is interesting is it is using a fibre cage and it is a lower height than the usual bearing

The ID and OD (29x50.2mm) is the standard size used by Husky on other models, and by KTM/Husaberg and others as per spec below

    KTM SHB
Tapered Roller Bearing Single Row - L45449/L45410
    Inner Diameter d ( mm ) 29
    Outer Diameter D ( mm ) 50.29
    Thickness B ( mm ) 14.22

Manufacturers - NSK, Timken, MPN, NTN, Koyo, ZVL-ZKL, LYC

I know Sussurf replaced his with the L45449/L45410 bearings above

Thanks for the info Wayne, however now there is a 3rd bearing size added to the mix.

I originally posted the Simply Bearing info on the Nuda Forum and have now purchased 4 pairs of BT1B329013AQ bearings.
I know they will fit my Nuda and highly likely they fit the Strada also. If not, then I have spares for other Nuda owners I know here in Philippines.

For info these are a cheap tapered roller bearing generally used in caravan, camping and boat trailers. They are not sealed or waterproof and basically do not seem to last very long in any application.
The Timken alternatives L45449/L45410 appear to be of similar construction and probably suffer the same issues.
There does not appear to be an alternative good quality sealed bearing.

As far as I am aware only Koyo was making the sealed bearings and not in the odd KTM/Husaberg size, it is the use of the fibre race which surprised me

The ones that came out where fibre cage, unlike the replacements.

    Hello,
I would like to ask you - is this bearing suitable for TR650?
It has numbers BT1B 329013 A/Q and full width dimension 15,5mm. Single outside part has 10,7 mm.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Rav

I could say come around and pickup a free dust seal but you haven't disclosed that info. Youre gonna need at least one

On SKF web side there is no information about this bearing. On other sides I have found dimensions 10,7mm and 15,5mm for the same bearing....

I did not open steering head yet.
PaulC - do have old bearing? Can you please measure it? Are those dust seals will be broken during change operation? Thank you very much.

How many kkm did you make when those bearings need to be change?
I have only 19 kkm on my Terra TR650.

Do you remember - are those dust seals will be broken during change operation? Do I need to buy new ones?

    Maybe
I had 70k km when they needed changing. Do yours need changing or just adjusting? for slack/play?
I dont have a press at home so i had to grind the bottom bearing away (slowly). Destroying the bottom the dust cover in the process . Theres no option. There under $15
With 19k km i would say adjustment only. But who knows! And if you go there load it with grease.

    Thank you very much.

PaulC - 70 kkm it is a great mileage.

When turning steering wheel, there is a perceptible "click" when steering wheel is on straight position.
It looks strange after only 19 kkm.
I would like to buy all parts if it will go worse and will need to quick change.
This bike is rare and I order parts from Italy and it takes weeks.

I will try to buy bearings on local market first.
    I have found BT1B 329013 A/Q with thickness: 14,22 mm, 15,50 mm and 17,5 mm.

Does anyone know which dimension is in original bearing?
    Thank you.

    links for the dust gasket
    both bearings are the same
    thickness 14.22,
    as per post # 2

I used L45449/L45410 koyos, the inside collar was longer. But the bearings were facing each other, so they worked fine.
Phone around and find out whos got stock, if yours dont fit you know where to go.

Don't forget that slot (or slots?) in the steering stem tube of the TR's that allows rain/ water to run straight into the lower triple bearing, the reason everyone plugged their headstem-tubes with all sorts of funny home-made plugs in the early days of TR ownership. It's not the k's/age, but how much water they copped along the way.
