125-200cc still relevant?

going to look at a 2002 cr125 tomorrow. seems to have low hours and great condition. am I gonna be kicking myself after I ride my buddies my2012?

It has a real wide ratio transmission! I put these gears in my 2012.

dont think the cr had a wr transmission, the engine would be just as good do what i did and buy a new 144 kit and you have basically a new engine (bought mine second hand in clasifieds) the bike is probably just as good in regards brakes and frame (its a 125 its going to handle) i would say it would feel smaller/shorter than the newer units and suspension will need a tweak but the 45s can be made plush easy.i prefer the basic lower centre of gravity design of the earlier bikes when compared to my 2007 but have not ridden the 2012.

2002 is the same up to 2008...Great bike!

Slightly different frame than the new ones. I think the new ones handle a touch better than the 2002/2004.

As said above the new forks are better than the old 45's.

The 2002-2004 motors seem to run the hardest. Many of the new 2009 and on motors are weak and boggy.

Parts for a 2002 CR are cheap and all over the place. 2004 was the hiwater mark for the CR125 as Husky imported tons of them to qualify for SX racing and they blew them out as leftovers. All the 2004 parts bolt right on. Rads subframe, wheels linkage all swap with the CR/WR 250 2002-2004

I still HS race my 2004 CR135 and it is still competitive.

Nice. Picked out up today, and yes all smiles. Met the seller to pick it up at a Harley dealership. Got to rip a few wheelies in their greasy field before being reprimanded. The bike stance feels similar to my 449! Which year144's fit and best place to purchase? Can't wait to get this thing dialed in.

144.... skip that and get a WB165 .

I 'll second that if you are thinking 144 already go for the 165 or just ride it as a 125 for a while to give it chance to impress

got my 144 kit here in the classifieds as many people use the 144 whilst their 125 is getting the 165 treatment and on sell the 144 kit upon installation of the 165, all the cylinders will fit just need the full kit and a suitable base gasket.

went for to ride around the house today and yes she rips! seems a bit sluggish on the top end until the power band comes in. anyway to work this out (besides a 165).
