:banghead:I had an unfortunate experience this past weekend, when breaking in my new bike,or attempting to.I guess maybe I just have been luckey since I started riding 40 years ago,to not have experienced this before?I went out this weekend with the intention of starting to put a couple hundered miles on the bike, for breaking in purpose.I guess I should have removed the stock case saver that came with the TE510,and installed some aftermarket brand case saver and slave cylinder guard. All was going well until I heard the chink sound and then no clutch disengagement at the next turn as I approached.I shut the bike down, climb off the bike and look at the slave area.WTF where's the guard,I pull the clutch lever and see the magura blood flow.Snapped the guard mounting towers off pretty much clean at the case, and gouged the slave cylinder.I would tell everyone that know to remove this before riding the bike(stock guard) I am now debating not putting a case saver back on,because that would involve purchasing a new set of engine cases. I have a total of 52 miles on the bike, but I am looking for a slave cylinder guard.I see on here that an Austrailian company,R&d Husqvarna is making them.Does anyone know if there is a distributor in the USA for their products?:confused:I hope this saves someone else the same problem I have now.

If it is brand new i would check with the dealer first before attempting anything.

I bought new in December and like I said I was getting ready to break it in.The dealer said,it won't be covered because it's not a defect in material or due to a failure that would be covered under warranty. He suggested that I contact my insurance company to turn a claim in.

I'm not sure that makes sense. Don't the new ones come with a 6month warranty? I would contact another dealer and get their opinion and them follow up with Husky NA.

Can you post a pic? I thought the sprocket guard was the slave guard.

The guard is for the slave cylinder as well as the case.

I'm guessing you somehow got a small rock wedged thru there which broke the guard off and crunched the slave cyl. Honestly, I've never seen that happen to anyone before.....even though you'd think It would be more common given what these bikes go thru.

I came up with the same conclusion, peeble or stick, something either on top of the chain or between the sprocket and chain.I was hoping that the warranty would cover it,doesn't seem likely.I guess the clearance is such that the casting points on the case are too weak to take any hit.

I just got off the phone with another dealer and he said to bring it in and he would take a look at it,photograph and contact HNA with all the information that's needed, and see what happens.I have nothing to lose but time at this point.I'm hoping

Boy that is a surprising development. I hope you can get some satisfaction from Husky on that. Stones can do amazing things, recently one sheared off my rear brake pin-go figure.

I still think that the casting looks like something off a vacumn cleaner.Where the 2 mounting towers broke off it looks like junk white metal,it's porous and almost looks as if the metal was cooling too quickly as it was being poured or forced into the mold.Like the casting was defective to begin with,if that's the case how long was the bad run before it was discovered.

Aren't they aluminum? I guess thats how they keep them light. I have never heard of this happening. Hope the dealer will at least get you a new case at cost.

That sure sounds like a reasonable argument to seek out a warranty claim.

I hate to say it but I may be contacting an attorney,if things don't go correctly at this stage of the game. There aren't even any gouges or physical damage to the chain guard or surrounding area that you would expect from a hit that would be inflicted from a rock or something that would cause the chain to jump into the guard.Like I said the guard is not even damaged from a contact.I probabally could have broke it off with my fingers.I would think at the least that they would buck up for parts if not the whole fix.:banghead:

Doesn't Husqvarna NA have an arbitration process for warranty issues?

If so, it would be worth looking into that first, rather than the expense of an attorney.

First, I would go back to your dealer and show him what you think is the defect in workmanship, if he hasn't already seen it. If he still thinks it's not a warranty issue, ask him to inquire with Husky NA to be certain. Then, if necessary, look into arbitration.

Maybe one of the dealers on this site could give you some information on the process?

How much money are we talking about for a new case? or repair. I know that's not the issue but it seems like a lot of trouble and a long time without a bike.

These are questions for which I have no answers yet.The first rough idea was 3-4 thousand, then I heard less than that because the original guess was for the whole bottom end because they were a matched set.I hope to hear something in the next day or so.I just sold 2 orange bikes too,I guess I should have keep 1 of them.

That damage does suck! Sorry to see it. I hope you get it repaired/replaced to your satisfaction, via dealer or warranty. A lawyer though??? I would not even consider that. :excuseme:
