I know this is a long shot but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Sometime Saturday 11/21/15 my enclosed bike trailer was towed away from my residence in Scholls OR. The Trailer: 2006 white 6X12 Interstate with barn doors rear and man door on front RHS. ***Scrapes on the front upper corners from my camper jacks.*** Interior had insulated ceiling, white walls and grey floor. Battery box and spare tire on the tongue. Contents included riding gear tools etc, the usual stuff. Please let me know if you see one advertised or spot one at a stage. Thanks Steve
Steve, Sorry to hear about that. I know how it is... My white 6x16 Haulmark v-nose trailer was stolen from my house 2 years ago. It was setup for MX and had mtn bikes and tools in it when it was stolen. I had it locked up and a lock on the hitch. Not enough in retrospect. I've been watching craigslist every since. I reported it to the cops, and they said... " there's a ring of trailer thieves stealing trailers all the time." Fortunately, I had it insured and was reimbursed some. I'll watch for yours. Dave
I believe the only way to stop the thieves is to remove the wheels from the side not facing the street, so the criminals get a surprise when they try to steal the trailer. I know someone in the Portland area that had one of those traveling jewelry setups with about 65k worth of stuff inside and it was ripped in the middle of the night. They had video of someone sneaking in and looking at the trailer for about a minute and then the disappeared for 5 minutes and returned with a truck and took the trailer in about 2 minutes or less. The best thing to do is make it hard to steal so they go elsewhere. Heck putting one of those towing company boots on it would be a good idea as well.
Screw that if you have any gear of value in it throw a gps tracker in it, or lowjack the bad boy. I am sorry to hear stealing is as bad there as it is here. Good luck with finding it.
Thanks for the sentiments guys. It just hit home a little bit more just now when I needed some carb parts a realized my assortments were in the fing trailer. There was a lot of brass, special tools etc.
