I will be buying a 2016 FE 450 soon and want to start my wish list for upgrades. I will be riding in the NE on rocky trails. I'm pretty much a newb, so I'm not looking to set it up for racing, I just want to add parts that will protect it from the rocks and enhance the riding experience.

Any suggestions for a skid plate? I'd prefer some sort of plastic, but will consider aluminum. Light weight and strength are the priority.

How about sharkfins? Any suggestions? I took a look at ZipTy. They look good but are there others that I should consider?

Handguards? I have HBD's on my TE630 that I like. What are your favorites?

Also, for the DS style riding that I'll be doing, I will probably swap out the seat for a seat concepts. Any thoughts on the "sport" or "comfort" versions? It sounds like there is 1" width difference, but I'm not sure about any other differences. Is the sport version much more comfortable than the stock seat?

I'm open to any other suggestions as well and I appreciate the advice!

Plastic skid plate, tm designs, rotor and radiator guards 7602 racing, and with hand guards I've really liked my Enduro Engineering ones. There are tons of options out there so just check out every option peopple give.

As far as seats, never got an aftermarket one before. Dual sport guys live seat concepts from what I've read here. Congrats on the new bike! Need to post some pictures of the bike :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check those out. I was headed to the dealer to buy the bike and they sold it last night! Figures! I'm in the process of trying to find another one.

I'm pretty sure it will come with a Huskypower plastic skid plate. They hold up pretty good. I recommend adding safety wire to the ring on the front. I'm a big fan of the Cycra Probend hand guards. Gives alot of room around the lever. Radiator braces are a must IMO.

Whatever skid plate you do, also consider a link guard. TM or BRP chain guide, 7602 Rad braces. For Shark Fins you should only go with Zipty, but if you just want a simple rotor guard, 7602 is OK too. They are really quite different in how they mount so take that into account. Seat Concepts is good stuff.

The link guard is a good idea. I've been running the Obie one this year and so far its holding up well.

Can you send me a link to the exact Cycra guards you have? When I look them up, there are like 100 of them, LOL. I'd like to get a kit with everything that I need, aluminum bars, plastics, mounting hardware.

    Thanks
