Nice, It looks as though something more than just the first broken tooth went through there on the mating gear to remove the next. A wild cat maybe, by looking at the tip profile of the tooth left between the 2 missing ones its worn almost to a point compared to the flatter edge of the other teeth left on the gear. Is 5th a 1 to 1 ratio and have the same amount of teeth on those 2 gears. So they have always meshed and lined up the same during rotation? Hows the rest of the gear stack?

Replace, ride and save the trophys. I myself keep a small lighted showcase on my mantle for items like that. I couldn't count the amount of stuff thats gone in there over the years, at this point I need a commercial 6 ft long sales showcase and get rid of a couch or something to display it all.

Replacing the mating gears. Six total... if you count the double floater as two... the teeth were floating around. Would lock up when rolling back wards. It's a customer's bike. Not able to tell the cause though.

    Many. Too many.
Actual gear -tooth failures are pretty rare and are usually a problem in manufacturing, or an underengineered part like the third-gear trans failures common to LT-Z450 sportquads.

Hard to think it's a manufacture defect considering its an 08 and it just happened. Just one of those things I guess.
