I have a 2013 TR650 that I would like to put 17's on. I have heard that the hubs on the 2008+ G450X are the same as the TR. Does anyone know if this is true? If not I can use my existing hubs because I just got a 2014 511 and will not be switching out the wheels.

No idea about the 450X hubs...but the Terra/ Strada DEFINITELY!! use the hubs of the late F650GS Dakar and G650GS Sertao.
I've fitted a Sertao ABS front wheel to a Strada and it's a straight fit, no different spacers/ axle diameters etc etc....just straight in it goes.
Should be even easier to find a non-ABS wheel for a Terra.
Rear wheels from the same models will fit, plus the later F650GS singles (wire wheels!) and the G650GS (wire wheels).

I believe the G450X wheels are all together different.

Hey Glitch, did you buy the Sertao ABS front wheel in Aus? If so where, I've been looking around at BMW wreckers but haven't had much luck.

    Thanks.

From what I've seen on pics/drawings etc on the net....yes, you're right.

    No.
There was a well worn F650Dakar ABS front wheel in Hobart at some stage, but I was 2 hrs. too late
Kept checking ebay.co.uk, ebay.com, gumtree and ebay.de for 3 months until a front popped up on ebay.de from a wrecker near Munich/ Germany. (search for "BMW (model) Vorderrad" for the front wheel on ebay.de).
The fronts are VERY hard to get hold off as they're mostly damaged in accidents, while there seem to be quite a few rears around on a regular base.
Still looking for a good 2. hand 300mm disc and an ABS ring for that front wheel.
I think I'll stick to the 17 rear for the start, possibly replacing that with a 17" wire wheel eventually. I like the bigger tyre choice for the 17s.

Just throwing this out there. The 17 will help the turn in and make it turn a lot faster, but you'll still be trying to supermoto a 400+ lbs bike.

If you're just doing it for playing around on the street, it'll do, but it won't be a racer by any means. I doubt you'd have much fun on the cart tracks with it, and it would take some serious brakes and suspension work to turn it into a real hooligan bike. That 511 would be much better suited for that.

The 19/17 is a fair compromise for a more street able Terra, but that 17 your best bet will be to find a 17 rim to lace to your hub, you would probably need to get custom spokes made, but someplace like Buchanon should be able to make you some excellent strong stainless steel ones.

I disagree about the Strada being not fun on a Kart track. Granted it needs to front fine tuned, rear shock change entirely change the gearing, but the one real issue in my opinion is the 19" front wheel. WHY did they put it on a road bike. God invented 17" front wheels for a reason. The Strada with a 17 front and good road tyres front and back would be so much fun it would take a while to wipe the smirk off you face properly set up. It isn't going to win any supermono races at this weight ( or even one you could get it down to) and braking power, but have fun...you betcha.

The Terra will just be used on the street and not raced. I think it will be a fun bike with the 17's The 511 will be my off road bike. Putting 17's on it is a custom job. Melvin at Motorcycle Tire Center in Las Vegas is working on it now. I hope to have it rolling in about a week.

I´ve got a CCM 644 and a Husky 630SM and am now looking for a replacement for the Husky. For road use, think you´ll find that the Terra is just not light and agile enough. Credit where credit´s due (I HATE Kaytees), but I diced with a new KTM 400cc motard yesterday and he was good! It made me think a bit.
