I'm thinking of getting my suspension reworked. Both the KYB and the sacks shock. ('11 te310) Have any of you had LT do the work? thoughts? Anyone else? I had precision concepts do my honda 250x and it was nice, but the seem to be more honda than any other brand. Thanks
We have 2 of the finest Husqvarna suspension companies as sponsors... though you may be looking for someone that you don't need to ship to. http://www.lt-racing.com/ http://www.werproducts.net/ I've not ridden a bike that WER has re-worked, but did ride a bike LTR re-worked. Truly awesome.
I don't understand how shipping your suspension off works. The whole point of suspension setup is that it is done to suit your riding style, position, weight, etc. Just getting the sag set up correctly makes a big difference, which you will have to do yourself if you ship your suspension out. And then setting up the clickers - they can set the clickers to a "good average starting point", but don't you want to leverage the suspension tuners knowledge when you do this? I really umm'ed and arrr'ed about whether to do the shipping thing and decided against it in the end. If I am paying big bucks to get my suspension sorted, I want it to be properly sorted out for me, and so need the rider<->bike setup. Sorry if I'm dragging the thread off-topic.
Maybe ask on the forum if anyone in your area has had their suspension re-done? By either of those companies, or anyone else. Then maybe a quick bike swap for a few minutes when you meet up to ride? Then you would get to meet new people, go riding, find good information - while you are having fun Basically, call up the suspension shop and describe exactly how you ride and where you want the bike to excel. Other things too such as typical weight when riding with gear. Those suspension people have been doing what they do for many years and have some incredibly happy customers. I *definitely* would not recommend shipping from Australia to the usa, unless you know less expensive ways to ship than I do.
I live about 30 miles from LTR and have had him inspect, revalve, re-spring both of the Huskies I've owned. I just drop the forks and shock off after he makes lots of notes on how I ride, where I ride, my weight etc. I pick them up when he says come and get 'em, I install them and then ride in awe. Perfect both times to include sag settings! He knows Zokes, Sachs and KYB very well. Give him a call, real friendly guy and definitely gives a $hit about what you think of his work!
I had some reservations about this myself, especially since I was a bit spoiled with having Norm Kouba of Kouba Link do a complete rework of the suspension on my previous bike and going on quick pace trail ride with him to get it dialed in perfect for me. With my TE510, after hearing many good reviews, I decided to ship forks/shock up to LT Racing.......prior to do so, I emailed him and provided as much, and as honest information, as I could about my size, riding ability, gear I pack on myself and bike, and riding conditions. My suspension was returned, resprung, revalved and with clickers set as what he thought would be about right for what I needed. I reinstalled everything, set sag to his suggested setting, then off to the hills for a test run.........Much better than stock and finally got rid of the stock front harshness that annoyed me. Had to wait a couple months for snow to melt to hit tight single track, but I kept notes on rides, intentionally looking for any issues and took photos of area where I found any. The rear worked really nice and never had to touch a thing, but forks did bottom to harder than I like in faster desert trails, and on tight rutted rocky downhills felt a bit twitchy. When I had a good mix of riding in, and notes complied, I sent another email back to Les at LT Racing with my assessment..........Les soon replied back with suggests for minor adjustments to oil level and clickers, and it’s worked great for me ever since. (I'm probably pass due for a little TLC suspension service)
I had factory Connection do my suspension the last time on my MTK. I loved it, although it was worn out when I sent it to them so they had to replace everything. Cost me a little over a grand, but it was well worth it. Because it became best handling dirt bike I've ever ridden, it was like a different bike. I'm not just saying factory Connection, any knowledgeable suspension shop can make your bike handle much better & have it more specific for the riding you do. I have a new to me bike & I have been saving up to get the suspension reworked, probably won't be FC, but I'll be shipping it somewhere.
Richard from House of Horsepower is also very good with the huskys. If your a trail rider send it to Les at LTR for butter smooth ride for a great $$$. If your a racer send it to Richard for amazing control at speed. IMHO
Thanks all for the info. I guess I could have been more clear with some of my posts. I was leaning towards the people that might have more experience with husky's. With that I was leaning towards "LTR" for that reason. I just was curious for info from the people that have dealt with them as to the kind of work they do and if they got what was promised. When I said that I didn't mind shipping my suspension vs driving to some local shop, I kind of meant more that it isn't worth anything to me to take it to someplace like "pro circuit" or "factory connection" if they are more into the Japanese bikes vs the husky's and only really deal with racing vs trail riding. I'd rather ship the parts to someone that knows these type of parts (sachs) and does see's more trail riding vs racing. Its mostly the sachs shock and that who ever I send it to knows them and isn't guessing at what they need to adjust them. I'm more of a trail rider and desert rider that still like to go medium fast and take in some whoops and jumps at the same time without feeling the pain of it all. Thanks again all for the info. I do appreciate all the replys.
Pretty much the same type riding I do......LTR did accomplish that goal of covering the spread for me.
LTR did mine. I'm 100% satisfied with his work. He always answers my questions every time i called him. Would highly recommend him.
I'm kinda on the fence also, do I ship mine to Gerald at Upstate for his RaceTech treatment or let Tom Fleming do his magic at one of the FTR HS races??? decisions, decisions.............
I've heard rave reviews from Fastbikeindustries. Dave is a former Ohlins tech and the guys on SMJ say it's the best money spent on their bikes.
I used Precision Concepts in Riverside, Ca. run by Bob and Diane Bell for my 07 TE450. They are great people to deal with, although too far away for you. But I called and made an appointment, drove up, dropped off my shock and forks, went shopping in nearby areas. They called me about three hours later to swing by and pick up my finished suspension. I drove back home and slapped those boingers back on the bike before sundown. The suspension works great. I did the same thing the following year for my KX250.
