Ive got a '98 cr125 which has '05 bodywork. I took her out today for the first time in a few months and the rear shock is junk. There is no damping. Ive also got a '00 cr250 which I bought cheap as it had a broken rear hub and no 2nd gear. Anyway my question is, I know the suspension fits (ive just put the front end from the 250 onto the 125) but how different are the set ups? Is the bike going to handle worse as its all set up for a heavier bike?

If it bolts on,I can,t see any problem,The suspension from the 250 is well worm by now and depending on your,e weight you should be good to go.With it being winter you should freshen up the suspension before the nice weather arives.

I heard there were different swingarm lengths over the years if that is true measure the swingarm and linkage points before using them

Yes, small changes in the rocker gizmo [ bottom shock mount- not all the same] make big changes in ride height and rear fender clearance- likely best to whip the spring off the shock and make sure it has clear travel for the full stroke. The wishbone /dogbone seems to be the same length for the test fittings I have done.

Took bothe 125 and 250 shocks off today and they are identical. Obviously spring rates and internals may differ slightly but the 250 shock will be used as a spare. The 125 shock and 250 forks are going for a rebuild with motopro tomorrow. Happy days.
