Does the valving in the forks and shock have to be changed if you put heavier springs on a bike? Basically what i'm asking is does the springs affect the valving or are they separate in what they do?
they are separate, but connected. if the spring change is only 1-2 steps, then all you really need to do is adjust the rebound slightly (1-2 clicks more rebound for heavier springs).
Yes, springs effect valving. Stiffer springs mean it is harder to compress so less compression damping and returns with more force so it will overcome the rebound damping. Now that said usually if your not going a bunch of spring rates from stock there is enough adjustment to get close to what you need. That said a spring AND revalve is always the best solution.
By the sounds of it I should of change my valves, I had my spring change to suit my weight of 120 kg So what brand of valves should I get? or are they all the same?
You don't "get valves" (other than buying Gold Valve kits). You have the shim stacks restacked differently by a suspension tuner.
Does the bike feel good for you as is with the springs? I am 120 kgs and changed out the springs front and rear, adjusted rebound and thought you bloody beauty after a ride and have not done any stacker work.
To be honest, my TE 450 Does not feel as as good as my old RMX the harder you push it the better it handle. I had the springs change at a local bike shop, I'm beginning to think that I should send my shocks to Krooz Tune in Melbourne where I had my RMX done
