Currently, the brand makes use of Husqvarna and Shineray single-cylinder engines on their motorcycles. Soon, both Shineray and SWM will be running on 350cc to 1200cc V-Twin machines that will be DOHC and water-cooled.

They will also probably be replacing the single cylinder models with the base 350cc V-Twin for the newbie customers, a middleweight 550cc design aimed at ‘advanced riders’ and ‘city riding,’ and an 850cc cruiser and adventure class models. The 1200cc twin will be on an ‘ultimate’ superbike/naked machine that will be the new flagship of the brand.

The report also noted that SWM has reached an agreement with Kinetic MotoRoyale, which brought the MV Agusta and the Norton brands to India, and will launch the SWM Superdual adventure motorcycle. The presumption is that this engine will be based on the 600cc Husqvarna design, although there has been speculation on the possibility of the smaller displacement V-twins being used in adventure models.
So the possibility of 850 v-twin big brother for SD, hmm

Almost definitely an Italian designed engine, probably a home grown one by Ampelio Macchi who did the current SWM engine designs and prior to that did some for Aprillia and Cagiva. Still no word direct from SWM.

I’d like to see SWM secure the rights to and relaunch the Husaberg 70 degree motors.

Hi Muzz. I think that would be a wonderful idea. The FE570 was a great bike and should have stayed in production. It would make a great DS bike with bigger tank, cush hub etc.
