Synthetic oil & motor break in

How many miles should you put on a motor when you start using synthetic oil? I hear variances like 500 miles, 400 miles. and so on. I just wanted y'alls input. I know in the past I have waited 500 miles or more when I started using synthetic oil. I never had an issue. I just wanted some input.

In the past on street bikes (not with Husqvarna) I've always gone to the first service mileage before changing to fully synthetic, primarily because this is what the man from Silkolene oil told me we should do.

However I recently queried this with Castrol UK when Husqvarna changed to Castrol as first fill and they said there's no need to use anything other than the fully synthetic now. The factory confirmed this and that it is a fully synthetic oil in the motor straight off the production line.

So that is why the new 250 takes 300mi to break in!

My last 2 250's were both broken in within 20 min. No need to waste time screwing around with all that 300 miles or 500 km 1/2 throttle stuff.

They're competition dirt bikes- they need to be run hard & get those rings seated properly. You only get one chance to do so - when the bike is brand new. Warm it up and run it hard - simple as that.
Don't waste time 'heat cycling' them either. That's old school stuff from the 50's when everything was cast iron and it needed to be seasoned before it became stable. Modern alloy engines don't have that issue.

I did my oil (and filter) at 100 miles with Motorex 10/60 full synthetic. Dealer said they come with full synthetic from factory.

The only oil I can buy for my 4T is full syn 15-50 so I been using it since day one and now have 60hrs on the girl and she doesnt miss a beat. No clutch slipping either when it gets hot.

I just bought a brand new TXC 250 and was told by the dealer to dump the "running in" oil after about 3 hours. So dumped the oil and changed the filter for another Husky original filter. Dealer also commented to run it hard and strong with plenty of throttle change providing the engine variation. Have done as instructed and my bike is just getting better and better each new ride. Totally amazing bike...!

I have been using the 15-50 Motul synthetic on my TE610E. I was weary about using it but I guess I can stay with it. Bike runs great. I am not used to running my bike with 15-50. I have always used 10-30 or 10-40 in my bikes but When I got my 610 (used) the previous owner said he was using the 15-50.
