Hey guys, looking to get a Terra this spring.
Nothing available to look at or sit on around here yet (Saskabush). Wondering how it suits larger guys.
I'm 6'2" and 220 with 32 inseam. More concerned seating room to handle bars. Had a DR650 for few years and loved that thing but Suzuki needs to stop milking it and cetch up with the rest of the world.

Has anyone owned both for comparisson.

Best to go sit on one. I'm 6'6 and the Terra is way too small for me. TE511 was a much better fit. KTM 690 is tall too.

I put this pic on for someone else here, but here is a side by side for you. I do not own the DR in the pic, but my best friend does. Notice how the DR looks extremely outdated. I think you will find that the Terra has more room, but I will see if I can get him to chime in for you. He can't ride the Terra yet because the rear swing arm is fubar, so he can't give you a ride comparo, but I can get back on here when I have more time and give you at least some idea of the differences. We were playing with wind screen ideas in the pic.

I own a DRZ400S and my Dad and Brother have DR 650's, so I've rode them a lot. I'm the exact size and weight you are Dalmatino, and I find the Terra to fit well. I am almost flat footed when sitting on the Terra. You don't get the typical squish in the suspension like on the DR, so the Terra sits tall when on it. I'm adding bar risers and bars to get my arms up and I think it will be very comfortable for standing etc. The Terra will be a good fit for you I would think.

There's no denying the DR for a bulletproof steed. And I love my DRZ for the same reasons. I sold my 650 V-Strom to get the Terra. I wanted something more dirt worthy, yet able to do slab and the Terra seems like the perfect bike for that. I did dumb things off-road with the Strom, but it kicked the shite out of me and the bike.

Had few Vstrom 1k's myself over the years and still have one now which is going to be traded in..Thaught it was going to be good enough for the basic off road stuff but found that while it's doable it's no fun. As a mater off fact I just found it frustrating evan on basic dirt roads.
Decided to keep my SV1000 for street use and get a dualsport again for the other side of the coin.
Also I realized that I realy dislike big bikes. SV1000 in streetfighter trim feels like a 250 compare to the Vstrom.

    Few pics..
Used it like this for few years as only bike

Dangit - now I'm getting concerned I don't fit the bike I am starting to fall in love with. Here's a pic of my test ride the other day. Opinions?

Bar risers and a taller bend Fat Bar helped me a lot. I'm sure a taller seat will come out soon. I'm 6' 2" BTW. I sat on the BMW Sertao and it was more cramped than the Terra IMHO.

A different seat, with a little more height and without the rise in the back is going to make the bike fit taller riders a lot better. I'm not tall, yet I would add a little to the riders seat area anyway to get a smooth transition between the front and the back of the saddle. It would also prevent that sliding forward thing that the stock saddle causes. I do like the way the stocker is cut away on the edges. 'Makes getting my feet down much easier. Still waiting on Seat Concepts to do something. Renazco Racing will be on board before too long too, although they have a long wait I understand.

Are there any other 6'+ tall Terra riders who could offer some experience & perspective? Thanks!

6'4", 32" inseam. I'm comfortable on the bike for hours at a time. I do tend to push back on the seat rise a bit, and I do think I'd like a bit of rise. But, as I said, bone stock I'm comfortable for hours.

I can't speak directly about the TR650 but I added a tall foam seat, underbar mount steering dampner, tall bars, Fastway pegs in the low and back position, +20 hammerhead tip on a Driven shifter all to accommodate my 6'6" 210 lb frame with size 14 boots and a 38" inseam... This is on a WR 250. My point is if it's in the neighborhood of fitting you can get it the rest of the way with mods.

I test rode the Terra last October, and my 6'4/185lb frame fit really nice on it. It was only about a 1/2 hour test ride, but it did feel much more comfortable than my 2008 KLR650. The only thing is that when I saw photos of me on the bike I find I look like a giant. My wife says I look that way too on the KLR, though from photos it doesn't seem like that to me.

This an older thread but I'm wondering if anyone has updates on Terra mods for a tall rider? I'm also 6'4" and 185. I got really excited about the Terra but when I finally sat on one it felt small and cramped. Too much knee bend and forced to sit forward in the stock seat. I know SeatConcepts has a high seat available. I feel like I'd want to lower the pegs and move them forward, if possible. Any comments?
    Thanks

I'm 6'3" with a 32" inseam. I have a Strada that I've put on a tall Seat Concepts seat, removed the foot peg rubbers and installed 2" bar risers. It's perfect now. I also have a DR650 with a standard Seat Concepts seat -- the bars are a bit low, but I've never bothered to raise them. It's pretty comfortable for up to 200+ miles.

    I am 6'-6" 36" inseam.
The stock bike is very cramped, but with the Seat concepts tall, rubber peg insets removed and risers it’s OK.
I would like a little lower pegs, but have not found an affordable option yet.

I found a cheap pair of GS Adventure pegs. I had to grind about an 1/8th off standoff to get them to fit. If you wanted to lower the pegs just grind it all off and use a spacer on top with the spring on top.. That would lower the peg about half an inch or so.

I'm just seeing these replies now. I don't think I'm getting notifications. Anyway, very helpful feedback. I'm going back for a second sit/look at a Terra. Thank you.
