You get to deduct sales tax to the state or locality off your federal income tax. Strangely you don't even need to itemize deductions according to the link you posted. It isn't like getting a tax credit or rebate of 30% of what you spend on a modern wood stove. If you make too much you can't do it. I am just guessing perhaps you might save in the area of one to two percent of the total you spent on the bike. Six percent sales tax 28% marginal rate I guess. Maybe I am wrong.
