    Hi

I will measure these exhaust main/middle port dimensions later myself when I will take my cylinder off for some small transfer ports and exhaust ports finishing. I would like to know these dimensions if someone has measured them earlier or just has the cylinder off and could do it that would be great.

This motor has 72 mm stroke and the dimension ”Z” is 48 mm (from top of the cylinder to top of the exhaust port or actually power valve flap edge when it is in closed position and exhaust port is in it’s lowest height). This leaves 24 mm or one third left (72 mm - 48 mm = 24 mm) for the exhaust port height when I assume piston top is level with bottom edge of the exhaust port at BDC and piston top is level with cylinder top edge at TDC (zero deck height). But how much does this main exhaust port open with the power valve flap? What is the dimension when the power valve is fully open from cylinder top to power valve flap top?

Does it move lets say like 12 mm from 24 mm to 36 mm or even more? In the closed position with just 24 mm exhaust port height the exhaust port duration is only 120 degrees and this helps to make that very good torque. 36 mm exhaust port height in fully open position would be 180 degrees exhaust port duration.

It would be great if someone could confirm the true exhaust port height dimensions in closed and open positions. Also if you know if piston top is level at BDC with exhaust port lower edge and with how thick base gaskets it would help even more.

Thank you in advance! I will measure these later like I wrote above. But it takes some time before I will take my cylinder off.

    Cheers,
    Janne

for 2015 check the parts catalog it appears that the P/Ns are the same, which makes sense from a production standpoint.
Using different base gasket thickness and different compression heads with different ignition and control box settings is where the TE and TC are different. If you want your TE to be MX add a TC head use the TC spec base gasket setting and plug in a TC ignition set.

I think you were going to reply to my other thread about the differences between TC and SX CDI boxes. Anyway so the cylinders for TC250 and TE250 are the same. Just different heads and CDI boxes. I have already bought a TC250 (2014) head and my friend took 0.5 mm (0.020") off from it. But I haven´t installed it or tested it. I am just ordering a RK Tek head because it gives more benefits. I will use TC250 (2014) CDI box with it.

But what about the exhaust port height? Do you or someone else know what is the height of it when fully open and fully closed?

Just to let you know if someone is interested in this... when power valve flap is in it’s closed position exhaust port height is around 24 mm and when fully open around 36 mm like I assumed earlier. But exhaust main port does not open fully at BDC at least with std Vertex piston and 0.7 mm base gasket thickness. I have now Wiseco 1 ring Racers Elite piston and use a base gasket combo 0.5 mm and 0.4 mm = total 0.9 mm base gasket thickness as Wiseco piston has more compression height than Vertex for some reason. With this configuration main exhaust port opens almost fully but not 100%.
