I know there's countless threads on the 125/144/165... I've been on a 12 tc250 for awhile now and I've found a smoking deal on a 13' wr144 brand new the bike is setup and jetted for the 144. My question is will I miss anything about the tc? I've also got a 09 wr250 and back to back lap times on my track I can run similar time between the tc250 and the wr250, would the lap time be about the same I ride and race tighter east coast stuff with the occasional GNCC. Does the 144 have enough power for the longer steep hanus hill climbs of the east?

I dont think the wr 144 will ever match the TC in power but the CR ignition, pipe and a 165 kit will help . The wr 144 is good on technical hills. It will be better in the tight stuff with the light weight and non stalling ,
I know a guy on here whos son raced went from the 144 to 250 due to long hills

Were in VA are you? I have a 2008 Husky CRWB165 and it has tons of power. I also have a 2010 TC 250 and my 165 will do anyting the TC can do. If you are near central VA (I'm in Powhatan) you are welcome to take my 165 for a spin. I like the trouble free easy care of the 2-strokes but do ride my TC as good on our tight club MX track. I'm old and slow . If the 144 isn't enough and I think it will be you can always step it up to the 165.

If I have not did wb165 kit after bike was 125 for 2 years then 144 for another 2 years, 38mm lectron carb, rebuilt rear shock, front forks, another new back tire, put new shifting shaft in my 2008 cr125 after second hard Moab trip. I would buy new bike but why if 08 is still running stronger than new again and better. After this long with one bike and 20 motocross races, 10 enduro races and endless practice days at both. I will never sell it just take parts off and put on new husky. These 2 strokes last. This bike has turned into my off-road race, trail bike and hope it will last another 2 years then I might let it go. All my riding buddys with new bikes can understand why I will not replace it this bike has never left me stranded or not finished race,it just get better with age thanks to guys like wallybean, kelly who figure out ways to make this bike better than new. I guess we will see how long stock bottom end will last but so far about 4 times as long as my tc 250 bottom end lasted.

Congrats on the 144, get 'em while you can! Keep the TC250, Redhead TC's and TXC's will probably be the best Italian Huskies ever IMO and will hold their value, The modern CR/WR 144's will be a close 2nd.

    what kind of issues?

Carb issues are solved with a lectron carb in 99.99% of the cases

Hi thx I need to speak with him but I know fowling plugs regularly is one issue - where can you buy the lectron carb? Is it set up ready to ride?

Fouling plugs can have several issues and not necessarily always the carb (yet the jetting of the carb is in many times the culprit)

is the rest of the engine in up to date state?

when I bought my husky it was eating (killing) plugs like crazy and it disappeared when I did a top end overhaul.

still went crazy with chasing the sweet spot on the mikuni and the Lectron solved that.

Lectron carb can be bought at motosportz (sponsor on this site).

it comes ready to race out of the box (tuned for your bike as you indicate at the purchase) and there is a small and easy adjustment to make to get it perfectly fine (only riding the bike can tell you).
