Just picked up TE 350 in pieces locally and i am considering re building but spares seem hard to come by, the chrome bore is damaged, has anyone installed a steel liner in one of these, also is there another make piston that can be used. I dislike breaking complete bikes but if I can notfind spares this might be its fate.
if you do decide to break i would be interested in the clutch cover and transmission..the 350 was somewhat uncommon for a husky wasnt it?
I can't remember the name, but there was a small UK shop, that specialized in Husky single cam bikes. He used to post on Thumper Talk.
I just brought a 1993 te350,only 2 owners,USA import, anyway done some research through a husky dealer in NZ, he did some research on this model and said everything is available, he said new complete cranks, valves,gaAkers, clutch plates, gearbox etc all there, just 2 weeks order to wait.
if u have the old piston i might be able to help. i got a piston dealer, he s got a lot of pistons from older engines still boxed up and also he might be able to do a small run on pistons. Turn around time is about 8 weeks... Whats about Wössner, Wiseco or JE - are they not doing these Pistons?
Taliesin Racing most likely. I got some nice out of production graphics and one of the rare vented ignition covers from them. http://www.taliesinracing.co.uk/ A 410 cylinder and piston and might work as well.
A damaged chrome bore is not a big problem, check out the cost of having it re chromed . I have sent 2 stroke barrels away that looked like junk after bearing failure , come back as good as new . Have not put a steel liner in a husky TE barrel , but has worked well in other engines . The alloy barrel needs enough thickness to be machined out to give support to the steel sleeve when they are both pressed together . If you have a good machinist take your barrel into him for a talk . Sleeves are available online from USA , would be surprised if your size was not available . The fitting instructions for the sleeve are online as well .
Thanks for all the replies, at the moment I have located a 'good' engine from a stolen insurance write off, if it is as good as the vendor says that is the way I 'll go and repair the other engine if and when bits turn up at a reasonable price!
