One of the members in our Trail Enduro club has a 2010 Te450 witch he brought brand new and has had a list of dramas as long as your arm. Broken Fuels pumps--Wiring short outs-- Other wiring issues-- Fuel injection problems--Starter motor problems. Does anyone who owns a bike of the same year have the same dramas at all. Instead of him carrying a spare tube with him. He carrys a tow strap instead so one of us can tow him home.
That is not a nice story EEEEEKK! Wiring issues? I have a '10 TE 450, I have rode the hell outta it. No issues even close to that. It has about 5200 km on it now and it still runs purrrrrfect. No starting issues. The only thing I am not liking is that the cables coming up by the handlebars are wearing badly. My speedometer cable broke right in two. There is nothing for it to wear on at that point. Wierd. My buddy bought a TE 510, he has nothing but electrical issues. It shorts out and will kill the entire bike at times.
I have an 09 TE450 and I too have had several problems with it since i bought it new....... first off, I blew 2 rectifiers in the first 6 months (warranty issue luckily). both fork seals blew out in frist 6 months. an exhaust bolt snapped and got stripped. I had to drill and use a bigger bolt. various wiring problems which I have not fixed yet. light bulbs blow out monthly. speedo wire broke dash shorts out when the bike gets wet. rear fender broke off on first ride. broke 2 turn signals on second ride. rivets on exhaust canister all broke off. and at least 4 other bolts have vibrated loose of snapped off and had to be replaced. and the worst of it is....... the front sproket spline is starting to wear prematurely with some indents. This concerns me the most cause it will mean spliting the case and doing a major engine overhaul to fix this. All in all, I am very disappointed with this Husky. I love the bike, but I have never had so many problems with a new bike. Next time I will buy a KTM. I am done with husky's.
Too bad here .. some of this is expected but front sprocket spline wearing sounds really bad .. That exhaust canisters is another one and wiring issues are never good ... The fuel pump issue was been around too long but fixes are known ... Starter motor problems? sucks again .. My 08 TXC250 starter has given zero issues in ~2 yrs ... Unless that wire spring is punched out of a fork seal, it may just be dirt causing it to leak and only needs cleaning to stop the leak .... Its always baffling to me to hear how one bikes performance is so sub-par to other machines of the same brand and year... Sitting where I am now, I might have to buy a brand other than a Husky ... Its so sad...I'm not looking forward to that day ...
I seem to be thinking that the bike was built in the factory on a friday afternoon or in the middle of a coffee break. The importer said that they were going to give him a new bike, but that has not happend. Other people in our club reckons it could be that the dealership did a bad pre delivery and crossed some wiring and thats why things are shorting. I must also mention that the bike is on its 3rd speedo and has blown heaps of fuses and a few relays as well. "(MFP)", I know what the problem would be with your front sproket shaft"" The drive chain tension is to tight, BACK IT OF NOW B4 YOU CRACK THE CASING. Dont go by the sticker on the swingarm to do the chain adjustment, Stand the bike on its 2 wheels and make sure you have about 3 fingers worth of slack on its own weight. I own a 09 TE250 with an athena 300cc kit and have also used the athena Ecu controller wired into the efi system which i done myself, and have had no problems with any part of the bike at all and its 2700kms old. I have herd that the fork seals have blown with only 160kms on some bikes. (Bloody 50mm Mazochi forks)
Mmmm, starting to wonder if maybe bike "pre delivery setup is the key" Some places are Husqvarna dealers only. Than you have Kawi, Honda, Suz, etc that takes on Husky as a second. Not really knowing much about the new bikes just wanting to make a sale. I mainly bought my bike cause a good friend asked me " do you want to try something new, something different " I don't mind that they built it on a Friday Was ready for me on Sat......brapp brap.
I don't want to test fate here but onto my 4 th consecutive husky this time around and have not had one issue. I find them to be robust, reliable and just need TLC (touch wood)
My 08 TXC250 is sitting at 600hrs and only the few known issues have needed attention ... Valves are adjusted from time to time and zero changes or issues with the engine and transmission ... I only try to keep it below 10G RPMs and change the oil every 3-500 miles ...
WHITEROCKET5.9""--On paper we do have a lemon law, But when it came to the crunch, its piont the finger time. I just found out that the dealership who he brought the bike from gave the whole dealership back to the aussie importer. They did have honda kawasaki suzuki Bmw and husky all under the same roof. I myself do believe that it was due to a bad pre delivery. Ive owned every jap brand of bike and my te husky is my first euro bike and i will never go jap bike again. I just love it.
