Newbie to Cafe Husky and a TE630.. Went for a single track trail ride and it was hot out..Bike was hot and ran fine but the fan didn't kick in once. The DRZ400 and 690 enduro on our ride had the fans running almost constantly. When is the temp warning light supposed to come on? Has anyone else had any experience in this department? Starting to think there may be a problem..
I could be wrong, but I don't believe there is a temperature warning light on the 630. I have to sit still for a while in some heat for my fan to kick on. If you haven't already, hit me up via PM for 630 documents. I have a copy of the USB stick issued with the bike, the shop manual, parts catalog, etc.
Check the connector under the tank to the fan first. Took it out Friday afternoon for a ride, the fan kicked on about 5 miles into the fire road. After I came back, the fan kicked on about 2 minutes sitting there idling. I think the temperature was in the low 90's.
Jtemple.. Thanks.. I do have the USB.. I will take a look thanks. I suspect something is up..It was pretty hot out..when I shut the bike off I could hear some cool down Noises.. pinging.. Just being paranoid maybe.. I noticed some coolant leaking last night around the lower inlet/outlet on the water pump where the hose attatches..Clamp was tight? Damn..
Are the fans noisy enough to hear? I have never heard mine come on even when stopped in traffic on 90+ degree days.
Sorry to revive this old thread, but does anybody know at what temp the fan is supposed to come on? I've never heard mine come on either. I know the fan itself is fine because if I remove the fan relay and short the 2 connectors that go to the fan (Yellow/Black and White/Black) it comes on (and the yellow/black wire is at 12V as expected) I'm pretty sure that the last time I casually checked, iBeat showed me the water temp increasing in value (and I replaced the temp sensor just to make sure) I have continuity on the Orange/Green wire that comes from the ECU. I also swapped the fan relay and the fuel pump relay, and the bike still runs. I'm going to monitor the water temp. with iBeat again, but if it shows a value going up as the bike warms up I'm running out of idea on what to check :-)
Looks like everything is working fine. It finally turned on around 90C. It just takes forever to reach that temp at idle. I had to up the rev quite a bit to finally get it to that mark.
Seems to be a bit of variance in when/if the fan comes on, among these bikes. I've got around 12K miles on my 630, and it's not uncommon for my fan to come on. Sure- it's typically around town, or when I'm in a spot to be super slow or stuck in the woods (like trying to get it turned around in a tight spot)- but it does come on with regularity. Not quick to come on, but it's not uncommon. My cooling system seems to work just fine and always has.
I'm using the OEM Honda coolant that's safe for aluminum systems. Good point on relative humidity- here in Virginia we see some oppressive humidity levels.
