Anyone ride at or above 5000 ft elevation on a regular basis and have any input on how the bike runs in the power up configuration?

    How about 8000-10000 ft up?

Just curious how much the "open loop" system affects seat of the pants performance and ride-ability.

    Thanks for any input

I haven't noticed any difference from below sea level out in the desert to 9000 feet in the mountains. It runs the same for me. Ken

I'm in Mammoth Lakes, 7800 ft. They just had the Mammoth Motocross here last weekend.

The FI bikes run fine here. Mine idles and warms up a little slower and of course with less oxygen you produce less power. There is no avoiding this in normally aspirated engines, so FI or carbed you'll be putting out less horsepower....

5000 ft changes your 35hp bike to 29hp or so.

I've spent a bit of time on an '08 TE 450 this summer. Rides from 7600 feet to around 12,000. Like others said, the only thing I notice is less performance the higher we climb. No rough spots, or holes in the FI mapping, just the bike makes less power the higher you go.

    runs great at elevation

i have an 08 te 450 with the power up kit. I live at 6500 feet and all of my riding is above this elevation up to 11,000 + feet. the fi is real bonus in my opinion. i like the smooth power of the 450 compared to my previous bikes 525 and 530. the fi allows me to lug the bike a little more than a carbed bike or so it seems and the throtle response is really nice. best of all i did not have to get some aftermarket jetting.
