TE250 - Troubleshooting eStart

New to me 2009 TE250 has a known no electric start issue (luckily has a kick). I figured this would be easy to diagnose: 1. Started with battery (check strong), 2. checked all fuses (check good), 3. Bridged starter relay with a screw driver, and started right up.
I figured it was the starter relay and bought a new one… same issue. Starts only by bridging nodes with a screw driver.

What obvious gremlin am I missing? What’s the easiest next diagnostic?

I had a similar issue on mine, it was the connection behind the headlight for the starter switch to the harness. It had enough slop to intermittently not start on the button. I just zip-tied it tightly together.
