  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE250 vs. Yamaha WR450

Greetings all. I need some advice. I would like to add another bike to my TE610. Lots of sandy technical tracks here and I would like a lighter machine. Ultimate power and speed don't seem as important as agility. I have found a 2011 TE250 and street legalized 2009 WR450 locally, about the same price. I have ridden neither. The only other stipulation is I prefer a high reving engine. Never mind this a Husqvarna forum, do y'all think the TE is the better choice?

The WR wieghs around 20-25 lbs more than the TE and from what I've read the front suspension needs a lot of work to get it right. That being said, you'll need to play around with the fuel injection on the TE to get it running right (but the suspension and handling are second to none). Are they used bikes? If so, take a ride.
There's a review on TT about the WR http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/860885-2009-wr450f-review-and-experience/ and the guy hates it ( and is immediately accosted by those who love the bike) There are plenty of people on this site that aren't too fond of the TE as well. I love my TE! It's fast, handles well and a good looker to boot. Not made for the road for sure. If you want to spend time on the road (other than catching a new trailhead) the TE is the wrong bike. The gearing is way too close-spaced for road use.
Good Luck!

Mate big difference in the machines. Both good but go about it differently. The TE for me might be more flickable but sand is a power robber and might detract fronm the overall greatness of the bike. WR has heaps of grunt and is a quality enduro/trails machine albeit a bit heavy and dated now. An alternative might be the TE 310.

That was my immediate thought as well. The horsepower of the WR may be a better bet in an all sand environment. Have you ridden any 4T 250's on that sand?

I have a TE250 and a WR426...I've ridden the Wr450.

The Yamaha has a lot more power. The Yamaha is a little shorter. The Yamaha is much more reliable and easy to tune.

The Husky is lighter and handles single track much better...better suspension..and very sexy.

It depends on what you want and which one is in better shape for the price.
