TE/TC TE300 fuel line residue

Anyone else notice the black schmutz on the petcock stem when you disconnect the fuel line? What is that stuff?

Couldn't help thinking that stuff is fuel line material and that it's making its way into the engine. I swapped the line out for clear plastic so I'll see if the schmutz goes away.

do you use ethanol-laced fuel? i notice that sometimes on certain equipment, if we are talking about the same thing. no ethanol for me in anything but my automobiles..

I try not to, but I guess it's possible. I've never used E85, for sure. But I wonder about some of the stuff we get at the pump.

unless it says ethanol free, its up to 10 percent ethanol. almost all fuel out there is like this.

It's never been a problem for me before, but it looks like I'll have to start paying closer attention. Bummer!
