I was going to wait and try to save some $ but I hate carrying all the tube change stuff into the wilds of Baja Ca.. I like the peace of mind of having mousses in my purpose built FIM tires. So tonight I will install new Pirelli Scorpion Pro FIM tires with BIB mousses onto my TE300 (my usual world enduro/ Euro rider extreme enduro style set up).
    140/80-18, 90/90-21.
Tomorrow we do a ribboned 40-50 mile A or B loop split ribboned course through the mountains of BC Mexico. After we return to the start finish rancho we have Food, cervezas y musica, not bad. This will be a real ride test for my JD Jetting installation.

    Rob,
What brand Bibs are you running and what sizes in those tires?

    Michelin Mousses 140/80-18 = M14
    90/90-21 = M15
and so far I only use michelin silicone from the toothpaste containers but I got a tub of mousse grease from ZipTy, so I will give Ty's choice a try tonight. PS my tires are new my Mousses are well broken in, (I have 2 of each and will use the squeeze/feel method to to decide on the less beat up ones. Also I have couple of spoon cuts on them, I will spiral wrap some electrical rubber tape around those spots ( The Welshman Dai showed me that method of mousse life extension)

I was just wondering if a Metzler Mousse, would fit the Pirelli's better? I wasn't sure if they even sold Metzler's in the US. I'm still using HD tubes and friends use Tire Balls or Tech Tube inserts that you cut to fit.

Rob The ONLY way to mount a mousse is to use as much of the tire soap you got from Ty At zip Ty racing it is the best I get a year of racing using the tire soap from Ty Plus it is water base and clean up is a breeze

I have a box full of the Michelin stuff I NEVER use it I have a video on you tube I mount a mousse in under 4 min no problem

for FIM tires I use the Pirelli s because they are readily available and less expensive than the other brands, thye others except GT I dont even know if you can get them. John, thanks for calling, As for that bucket of grease/soap stuff I got from ZipTy Racing that stuff is epic, it really works well. way easier than using the michelin toothpaste container silly cone gel. Tire came off and new tires went back on with moooosies easily. PS as I mentioned in other threads I have a Euro wec style tire hoop/bead breaker mounted onto a pallet and 6 motion pro compound tire irons, today I needed to use 4 at most. In my opinion its easier because you can be more sloppy installing mousses, with no worry about cutting a tube, although I do have a few cuts in my mousses from my gorilla tactics. oh this time I used a fr in addition to my usual rear rim lock, but did not do my usual balance, I'll spin and weight them next week.

hardcore ride today we did the L2 of our recent hammerdown hardcore trail ride. I was not really mentally prepared to tackle all the tough stuff stuff today, but of course got through it. Plus loads of guys were not in the proper skill level to be on A loop trails so we weere stopping and bottle necking and helping guys through the ugly stuff, just wore me out!! TE300 is a single track techinical riding weapon, its going to be sick with proper suspension dialed in. Glaring issue....I need to do my suspenders, at the least springs.

Hey Rob how are those mousses holding up with all the Enforce tire soap you used that stuff is great and it last a long time Everytime I ride my bike when I get done the stuff is coming out of the spokes and the value stem hole
but it never gets hard stays soft and smooth .

What is your source for Mousses? I'd like to try one but it looks like they are $150+ per tire?

my local sponsor disc price is still dang near 130 bucks, we have them lasting up to 8-9 months when pulled cleaned and relubed. sometimes we electrical tape them as well to get more life. peace of mind out on the trail is worth it to me.ps ive only used michelin mousses the welshman has tried golden tyre mousses and was not too pleased with them they wore down fast.
