Hi there. I am new to this forum and this sport so first of all 'hello'
I recently bought a 2013 te449. It had only 17 he's so I think it was a good buy. While the engine is cold it starts up first push of the button and rings smoothly. On my first ride in the bush, after about 30 to 40 min we straddled the engine and could not restart it with the starter. We eventually managed to push start it and all was fine. At home I took out the battery thinking it was flat but my charger indicated it was full . I measured the voltage and it was 12.9v. So I installed the battery again and it put puts along as if nothing happened. The engine was cold by that time again. So now I am a little hesitant to go out again before this issue is fixed since it took a fair effort to get it going again but I also do not have a clue where to start my fault finding mission. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Let me bump this to the top. It was in moderator mode. Could it be that I just need a more powerful battery? Has anyone experience with the ssb lithium batteries? They seem to be the major brand here in OZ. Thanks

I have the same problem with my 2011 TE449. It is not starting when hot. Did you find out where is a problem?

There are a few things you should try. First, perform a TPS reset. A quick search here on the Cafe will give you lots of info. Second is making sure you have the best map on your ECU. You need to have the full Akro map AKA Map 3. These bikes are very lean so even if you have stock exhaust, it will benefit from this richer map.

Last, you pegged it. These bikes just don't like to start hot with the stock battery. The benefit of more cranking power and much lighter weight are well worth the cost of the upgrade.

Our 449/511 bikes are very popular in OZ so you have lots of resources down there including a Facebook group that is mostly Aussie. https://m.facebook.com/groups/219900571553501?view=info&refid=18&ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_activity
