Of course I can put it back together just the way I took it apart, but that doesn't mean the guy who owned it before me did it correctly.

The shop manual shows two different exploded views for each screen. The screens are distinctly different. The bizarre part is that they show each screen going into the same hole. I referred to the Shop Manual 1st edition (08-2010) _Rev. 11-2010 Page D.13.

One screen is symetrical end to end. The other is not. Which goes in the front port & which goes into the rearward port (closest to the oil drain plug)?

Follow up - I looked at the parts manual and was able to determine which goes where. The symmetrical filter screen tube goes toward the rear of the bike, closest to the drain plug. The non-symmetrical screen tube goes toward the front of the bike. The screen on the forward tube does not completely go from end to end. There is an opening in one end of the sidewall of this tube. This opening gets installed closest to the filter screen screw cap - outboard facing or stated otherwise, closest to your left foot peg.
