Tight enduros...my WR300 is the best bike Ive ridden in that kind of stuff. I have a TE449 and Ive taken it out on some of the trails i ride the WR on and it was fatiguing and not nearly as fun. There are some things that need sorting with the WR-like any other factory bike to make it perfect but the motor is amazing. It almost never stalls and it has all the power you could want and it's there low in the revs.

Dont over look the 250 if you see one for sale. I actually prefer the 250 especially in the tight. Actually like the 125 platform the best there. I own a TE511 and CR125. Love them both but the CR125 is a far better tight stuff bike.

Actually a friend of mine is thinking about selling his 2012 WR250. Its one with a headlight too. The bike has low hours and is essentially bone stock other than handguards and skidplate.
He is located in the Lebanon PA area if youre interested.

I bought an 09 WR250 thinking I might turn it in to a 300 when the top end was worn out. After a couple of mods (38mm Lectron and a Gnarly) the 250 has the perfect balance of torque and top end. I like my 250 more than any other bike I've ridden, every time I swap bikes with my buddies I can't wait to get mine back. I may never make it in to a 300.

    good choice! :p

t-stat: loose it now if you like tight steep crappy stuff. see the thread on "thermostat bypass" and fill it with Zip Ty XF+ coolant. all types of differnt mod ideas here from 5$ to 55$.

    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/wr-thermostat-bypass.31191/

primary nut check: mines fine. check this the first couple rides. after that yer good.

    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/wr-primary-nut-inspect-quick-check.30360/

jetting: dont even ride it yet- it comes with the wrong parts in the carb. get the JD kit NOW, install the new needle and needle jet. now the Mik meters crisp and perfectly. super easy fix there. mos bikes needs jetting anyways so no big there...

change trans oil after first ride.

clutch: start squeezing a tennis ball and order the Motion Pro cable 2-3" shorter and reroute. its not horrible but...it aint a 125 lever either, its a big bore!

wear a moto boot starting it. it kicks back cold the first start of the day. dont use a shoe unless you like a 3-pc foot.

i ride some crappy tight stuff now and again. super luggable motor with a nice rip on top. its easy to ride if you dont whiskey throttle it. just sit twist and feed it gears. hardly need to use the clutch and god does it lug down looooow.

i totally love mine. every time i light the candle i get a tingle cuz i know what coming. its the last of a pretty special proven design that ran for decades. and, its a gnarly big bore when ya need it....everyone at work will wonder whats up come monday cuz ya cant stopp grinning....baroooop!

All 13's should have been done by the dealers. Just make sure yours did the job.

I also have a 2012 TE511, I love it, but I also have a 06 WR125. I am faster and can last longer on the 125 in the woods.
I better not ride a 250, might sell them both.

Amen! 125 is a pleasure in the tight. The bigger the bike, the more energy it takes to twist it into a pretzel!
I ride stick farms with my 450 and I'm exhausted...I can ride the 125 all day there and run away from my buddies.

I went from 07 510 to 01 wr250 and now 2011 wr300. Even though 01 wr250 was a bit of dinosaur it ripped on the open stuff and literally rode itself in the tight technical trails. I love the 300 but I pull up sore and exhausted and it just doest feel as nimble as the 250 did. Sounds wimpy but my next move will be back to the 250. Anyway it was more satisfying eating up orange 450's on techno coloured 12 yo wr250!
