I'm converting my 2007 TE610 to a Supermoto, just for street use. But I have a bit of a problem finding which brake adapter to buy. Ideally, I would like to use the 290mm rotor that is on the SV650 wheel I'm using, but I'm quickly realizing I am pretty much 100% going to need to swap out that rotor to a 320mm. What bikes, be it Husqvarna, or other brands, have the same distance mounting holes on the fork leg? If I can source one that works with a 290mm rotor, I could save a lot of time and money As a temporary workaround, I'm going to make a rotor adapter and use the existing caliper bracket and TE rotor, till I can make an adapter, and maybe just convert it to a better caliper during the winter, like a 4 or 6 piston one.
Because it has no front brake like that... it's held on by 1 bolt in that photo, just so it's not hanging. I need to relocate the caliper... Either way, I ordered a 320mm rotor and adapter now. Figure I might as well see what it's like having a brand new rotor and pads for once.
How plug and play were the SV650 wheels to the Husky? Obviously you're having difficulty with the brake setup, but otherwise? Did you have to make spacers or other parts?
The only difficult part was finding out what company had adapters really. The SV650 front rotor is 290mm, nobody makes an adapter for that size rotor, so I had to order a Hayabusa 320mm rotor, and a Warp9 caliper adapter. I may have to modify the Warp9 adapter, depending on if it keeps the caliper in line with the original Brembo hanger or not. If it lines the caliper up the same as the Brembo hanger, I'm good to go. I have a thread on SMJ... They fit pretty well, just need to make spacers, and modify a GS500 cush drive. I may make kits to fit SV650 wheels if enough people show interest. The Cush Drive is amazing, best thing this big single could ever be upgraded with. Also, getting rid of that annoying floating rear rotor... I never realized how annoying listening to that rotor rattle around was till I put the SV650 wheels on the bike. Over the winter I may just experiment with some cheap sport bike calipers, try and find a Brembo similar to what's on the SM610 maybe, if the stock brake isn't powerful enough with that big 320mm rotor.
