Eric's 2006 TE610 has 682 miles on it. The redline warning light on the dash comes on way before he gets to redline. The manual says not to exceed 5500rpm until break-in is over at 1400km, which is equivalent to about 870 miles. Will this red light come on only at true redline (8250rpm) once the full 870 miles are reached or is there a problem with the instrument panel? Thanks!
Actually, you can program it to come on at another RPM if you like.... kinda like the oil service and the wrench symbol
We can find the instructions in the manual for changing other stuff, but not the redline indicator RPMs. We don't need to change if it it is, indeed, programmed to come on until break-in mileage has been achieved. After messing with it the only things that we can get to show up now are the odo and the trip meter...the clock and rpms are no longer showing up.
Now there's some useful advice. I knew I could count on you, Tim I've got over 11,000 miles on my 610 and mine has worked flawlessly for each and every one of those miles. Maybe I'm just special
Forget the run in hooha. The motor was bench screamed already. Just mix it up but do not be frightened to give her a hurry up. The engineering tolerances are so good today the engine is best run in with a mix of hard and soft running rather than keeping under X revs specified by the dealer. You will find the motor more responsive and will probably spool up quicker using this approach IMHO. PS Woodsie you are not only special you are also my favourite ride reporter.
Aww, shucks, ghte...thanks! I did a rippin' street ride through the Sierra last weekend and will probably post up some photos later today Talk about bouncing off the rev limiter...I just used it as a shift indicator I was totally out-gunned by their huge motors but when it got tight and twisty I was at the front of the pack So, it isn't about revs or run-in or anything. We just want to know if this little redline warning light is programmed to come on at below true redline until 1400km are logged. I followed George's very conservative instructions when running in my new `07 610 and the only issue I've had has been the original cam chain. Can't argue with that
You got it running????? What was wrong with it????? My 07 was set at 8250 from the factory. Sounds like somebody reset that one. You can reset it when you go into the "settable" values, as you scroll though the windows you will see the 4 digit number come up, hold the mode button down until it clears, then put in the number you want. Sometimes the light comes on whenever IT wants to too. A piece of black tape fixes that..... LOL.....
Are you doing the "hold button down for 8sec." until the little ws starts blinking, then doing the pull the high beam trigger 5times while holding the button down to add, and remove screens???? It's a highly involved ritual.......
I'm still confused about the green headlamp light that stays on all the time. Guess I should start reading...
