Whassup with this? Speedo reads zero, but the odometer and the trip meter both work. I thought the two were operated from the same sensor on the front wheel. Has my control panel failed? How do I troubleshoot this? Any ideas appreciated. I can use the Garmin for speedo as long as the odo works, but I'd like to get it fixed.

Unplug the speedometer wire and clean the contacts and plug it back in..... Then disconnect the battery for 15sec. or so and re-connect and see if it will wake up again.......

If you replace the whole unit, do you see your actual kms/miles or does the unit reset to 0?

My '08 SM610 started reading erratic speed. +/- from actual speed. Usually started a few hours into the ride. Did the unplug/clean/power off routine to no avail. Thought maybe the speedo input cable coming from the front wheel had a broken wire in a bend somewhere that made intermittent contact. Replaced that with a new one. Worked well for about 1k miles and then started up again. Now I just live with it.

My 09 had to have the unit replaced at 1525 miles because the speedo was reading zero and yes it resets the odometer to zero.

My 2008 610 has done this a couple of times. Speedo stops working but odometer still works. Each time disconnecting the battery has fixed it.

My speedo always worked, but my tach never worked from day one. Started it up yesterday and I looked and saw 1200 and thought what's going on. Well the tach started working. I always had the bars on the left, but never a read out. I wonder what surprise I'm in for next! Sometimes my whole unit go blank and I press the rubber button and it comes back on.
