I am going to purchase the Terra but wanted to know if the 2014 is worth the extra 500 USD, what are the upgrades?
Ive heard the last batch was refused at the border...the hold up in shipping required the bikes to be re/titled as 2014s. Made sense to me...but just repeating what I was told.....so take for what it's worth. I bet there's no difference at all. If you could travel a bit...Eurosport in Asheville NC is selling new 2014s @ 6K plus tax....no increase at all ..in fact cheaper! Get them while you can because grapevine says no more to be had...ever.
Maybe he bought a booster plug and already installed it for ya...but for $500 I would have done it myself.
There is no difference in the 2014's, except they sat in a crate at the port for months. I have spoke with the corporate sales and management in Cali when I was trying to locate mine and I was going to wait. Glad I found one that was in Virginia or I would have waited another month. I would wash the bike and wax every thing as soon as I got it because sitting by salt water for months is no good. Although I am over cautious and know that in the end it would not be a big deal. If you found one and really want it do not hesitate. You know what they say he who hesitates........................ Gets nothing in this case.
I snatched up one of the last ones from EuroSport in Asheville last Thursday, Sept. 12. Very nice people, great looking dealership too! The only bad part was when I arrived the service tech tells me that BMW software update they did 3 days earlier remove the TR 650's from be allowed to update. So no MOSS update on my new Terra . I left an e-mail with Justin asking what I can do at this point since these are the last TR 650's that BMW will be associated with and now appears to drop their ties completely with them. Hoping the PCV purchased yesterday can help with the low rpm stalling as I have experience it twice already in my first 300 miles of riding. Was going to get the Booster Plug but didn't like that a new temperature sensor is used; although I'm sure it works fine. Like how the PCV allows me to remove the O2 sensor as I did on my TE 450 and put a bung plug in the hole. Not sure it will completely cure the bike issue, but I did get a good deal on the new PCV and new maps come out from time to time.
Delnari, some folks in Richmond are looking for a TR650 to develop a programmer. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Rexxer, but they make some sweet stuff. Basically, they remap your whole bike, and can even turn off that pesky EWS immobilizer. Since you're close, and the donor would likely get free product, I would recommend hitting them up. Mag00 can give you more information.
Can't stand to be without my bike a single day right now. Trying to get every last day of riding in before the cold sets in. Hope someone else closer might be able to do this. Right now I'm to busy having fun. The bike just hit 350 miles on the odometer and the it now starts more quickly. Early in the week after the PCV install it was taking 4-5 crank turns before firing when cold. Today both in the morning and evening it fired up with 1-2 crank turns. Did I mention hope much fun I'm having with this bike . Heading down to Sherando Lake, VA on Sunday and Monday for some Blue Ridge Pkwy and GW Forest action.
They need a bike or a working ECU. I will send my ecu in November if they do not get one by then. I would send now, but we are getting some of the most optimal riding weather at this time. Not too hot, not too cold.
I bought my bike from a Virginia dealer and have to speak with them Monday I am sure they will get one of their customers. I want to see some one do timing and fuel programmer. When it comes to every thing else you retard the timing with it running lean. By advancing the timing and fattening up the AFR with the new intake and exhaust you should get the best out of the bikes. That is what I am waiting for.
I just got mine Friday it's a 2014 .. No braided front brake line... Also I think the handle bar mounts are different than others I have seen... I think it was maybe bigdog on ADV that put risers on his and his mounts looked lower and off set ..mine look taller and cap mounts flush along the top... Side note mine had a husky 110 years of motorcycle 1903-2013 sticker on the front ... Anyone else have this?
